If you love base building and games like Rimworld, Prisons Architect etc... then you'll love this one.
Clanfolk is a very cosy, scottish themed game where you research instantly when you discover new things.

There is a family tree where you can marry members off to other clans, and choose who is the clan leader for your people.

You can hire workers to help on your land and trade with other clans on the map.

There is a lot to play about with, my only complaint would be a lack of events with the messenger post and I think there needs to be more things to do on the map. I know the team are still working on new content with the upcoming patches so I'm excited to see what that brings.

It also doesnt suck the life out of my PC like other similar games so that's a bonus!

This game is super cute and cosy!
I think a lot of the negative reviews come from people expecting something different than what was actually shown. Personally, I really enjoy its simplicity, when I need something more low-key, it’s the perfect game to have on in the background while I’m doing other things.

That being said I still feel challenged when placing my tiles and adopting routes for trade. I would love to see more content being added for future patches like new resources, maps and scenarios.
I also love the concept of the unlikable king in the campaign, and the tile-based gameplay feels like a board game brought to life. The videos for the tutorials are a nice little touch for people who aren't into text heavy how-tos.

All in all, charming game!

Incredible game! Finally an early development game that has content.

This game is ridiculously addictive, it's one of those where if you don't look at the clock, 5 hours has passed by and you don't feel it.

I love love love the way the game works especially the way the genres are structured. I hope the map extends upon further development because there's something rewarding about making those white people green. My only criticism would be that when you go to unlock things it's hard to navigate and find what you want. Apart from that I'll take whatever new content comes my way.

The game also has a good price tag and value for money. I can understand why some people may deem it repetitive but I would also argue that the amount of new things you can unlock each time is above expectations.

Great job devs!

I’ve been advocating for more shop/retail games for years, so when I came across this one, I was beyond excited. And honestly, it’s a fantastic game. The management mechanics are well thought out, and it’s clear the developer put a lot of time and passion into creating the experience. However, there’s one major issue that’s hard to overlook: the lack of accountability from the dev.

The game does have some bugs, and one in particular, where your workers get stuck outside on rocks, can completely derail your shop’s progress for the day. Bugs are understandable in any game, but what’s frustrating is that these issues will never be fixed.

As a member of the KOR Discord, I learned that the developer stepped down from actively working on the game due to stress and personal life challenges, which I completely understand. However, what really irks me is that the dev has now shifted focus to developing KOR2. Here’s a game that’s still being sold at full price on Steam, despite its known issues, and yet there’s been no offer of compensation or even a commitment to fix the bugs in the current game. It’s frustrating to see the developer move on to a new project while leaving this one unfinished, especially when they’re still taking people’s money for it.

It’s a real shame because the game itself has so much potential, but the lack of support and follow-through is a major turn-off. I find it really disrespectful for all players who supported it.

This charming little game offers a similar experience to RimWorld, but in a more immersive 3D setting. The balance is solid, and the mechanics are easy to grasp, making it accessible for new players. However, there are a few areas that could use improvement:

1. Navigating multi-level bases can be a real headache. If you have several floors in your base, it's a pain to navigate, and I often find myself accidentally placing things in the wrong locations. Additionally, being too low in the game world prevents you from interacting with trees for some reason. There’s definitely room for a more intuitive system here.

2. While the game is in early access, and content is still being developed, it’s worth noting that the game has been out since summer 2021. A bit more content would be appreciated at this stage.

If you're a fan of city-builders and simulation games, you'll likely enjoy this title. However, if you're looking for something more polished, you might want to wait for a sale or check out a more complete game.

I've been waiting for this game to be released for so long. I was an avid fan of "The Movies" when I was a kid and I had hoped this was going to be like Two Point Hospital in the sense that it would be a more modernised version of an old and beloved game.

Sadly it feels worse... This game is very basic which doesn't give any sense of excitement or challenge. It reminded me of Game Dev Tycoon where you pretty much choose your genres and staff. Maybe in time this game will be improved with much needed content. There's not much to be liked about the graphics either.

I'm really disappointed and a bit gutted. Even with the release discount this was not worth the money.
I appreciate the idea but the execution was wildly off.

This game is great for an easygoing player who likes games where they can start and stop when they please.
It has a farming element (although there aren't many growable items), you can fish, mine, cook and forage whilst you complete quests.

That being said it isn't without its faults, the game suffers from clunky pathways especially when your quest is to speak to someone in a river (Ariel, Ursula) and you can't reach them until they spawn in a different location.
Personally, I would have enjoyed more challenges and areas to interact with. The portals are a bit naff as there is only a small space to go to and you can't explore or touch/collect items unless it's specific to the quest you're on.
I think this game is great but considering it's Disney and relatively pricey, you'd probably expect more.

In terms of accessibility, you can play with a controller on PC which is always handy. The overall functions for each task isn't complicated so most actions can be done without intense button mashing.

I wouldn't recommend buying it at full price but it is worth having in your library for a cosy laid-back gaming session.

If Sims 3 and Total War had a baby, this would be it.

Starting this game can be quite daunting especially if you haven't played previous CK games (like myself) its best to start off small, in my case Ireland and take your time to get your head around it.
Remember to turn on iron mode as soon as possible so you can get achievements.

I personally love the game, I wish it had more traits and options for characters though and I've noticed a few bugs like missing icons or armies and cities glitching to transparent. Not sure why some characters are randomly nude but I guess it adds to the drama.

8/10 would marry my own cousin again

This game has to be one of the best I've played in years.
The graphics are amazing and extremely aesthetically pleasing and the game is very story rich which you can get lost in for hours.
I love how you choose which characters you want in your party and which to mainly play with (I chose Roland because who can resist a guy in a snazzy coat)

To shorten my view:

Pros:
- Story Rich and a lot of content
- Environment is beautiful and lots of places to explore (Open world)
- Variety of items to collect & make
- Ability to build you kingdom (City builder)
- Trip doors are super useless to teleport to certain locations

Cons:
- Sometimes there is just too much talking and it takes forever to skip it
- Moving in the map is sometimes a pain, can't always jump off small ledges and stairs
- Although the side quests are fun, I really didn't enjoy the battling ones but maybe that's more of a personal interest issue
- Some aspects of the game are really difficult to work out without some research e.g tactic tweaker

I'm actually surprised the amount of bad reviews this poor game got.

It's exactly what we've all been waiting for since the OG Theme Hospital. Each level is well designed with different obstacles and focused targets. I'm still playing through the adventure mode but I'm highly addicted so far.

Pros
-Nice modern touch with lots of added details and new illnesses/machines
-Plenty of game time for what you pay
-Chances for lots more content to be added e.g DLC'S
-Epidemics included
-Different styles of hospitals with their own unique issues (Volcano eruptions, No earnings, Only Student staff)

Cons
-The Radio Dj is a nice touch but sometimes repetitive
-The landscape of some hospitals are really difficult as you can't fit as many rooms as needed but I guess that's just an element of difficulty
