Given recent events and revelations, like the fact that the galactic war modifier straight up punishes you for not playing either D1/2 or D10 when you have a high playercount, the blunder with Cyberstan, the catastrophic handling of the dev charity challenge, and the general problems we all have gotten used to in regard to balance, the "grunt fantasy" the devs keep so close to their hearts, and their lack of transparency and underhanded changes to the game that go unmentioned in patch notes and have to either be deduced or datamined, I have to say the game is in a pretty weird place. I am a diehard fan, I own all the warbonds, I participated in all the major battles, and most importantly I still love this game at it's core, but what I most love is what it could and should be, as well as the games I've had with friends and randoms that actually bothered to communicate and coordinate. If you have a squad to play with, and/or like to LARP as an agent of managed democracy, it's an enjoyable game. I would recommend waiting for a sale, and tempering expectations since we've always been one step forward, three steps back.

Edit number 2: So, it's been a while. I still very much love this game and universe. That being said, the balancing is extremely weird, performance is questionable at the moment but they're allegedly working on improvements, and we still have a lot of bugs, I still enjoy the game and would tentatively recommend it, but I would advise waiting until after this tumultuous period comes to and end to really commit to it, unless you get the game on sale. I still have hope that the performance issues and bugs will be fixed in time, and I hope the balance team stops doing monkey paw balancing and we finally get the golden era where you get to enjoy niche loadouts and still be effective, and having most if not all weapons feel like they have a place on the battlefield (looking at you durable damage and smg drag). Until then, perhaps you should wait a bit until joining the helldivers, but it's still a worthwhile experience even in this state. Just keep in mind we've had 2 years of content since launch and vets have been earning super credits on missions passively in that time

Previous Review:We won. Sony can go ♥♥♥♥ itself, we can finally have nice things. This is probably the best coop experience I've had in years if not ever, the first and probably last game to do live service justice, managing to buck all the trends we've seen ruining AAA. No FOMO, fair prices, earnable premium currency (and I don't mean on overwatch levels, I mean you can actually unlock new content through playtime in maybe a few weeks, instead of a year), interactive story that changes based on whether or not the community manages to fulfill the orders from High Command, amazing atmosphere and setting, fun mechanics, basically every weapon is viable on almost all difficulties. Probably my GOTY, if Sony keeps its grubby hands of it this time. Get it for yourself, get it for your friends, and get in there and fight for managed democracy! You won't regret it!

Early Access Review
Came for the haha funny incest game and found an engaging and well written story of a horrible sister and a brother too meek to resist her. Combine their already questionable dynamic with the horrendous circumstances they find themselves in, add a bit of an occult twist, and you have a game that's well worth the money it asks for. They actually managed to make the incest bit feel like a natural evolution of things, as strange as that may sound. I enjoyed it so much I even bought it for a friend, and you'd better be sure I'll be back when episode 3 is out.
EDIT: Episode 3 part one is out and ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ it's peak, go see for yourself. My only regret is not having more of this to play for now.

As someone who is currently studying abroad, this has been an amazing way to play some good ol board games with my friend back home. The fact that this has workshop support is amazing as well since you basically have infinite potential content.

And if you happen to be plugged into the culture war at the moment, it would seem the devs ruffled some feathers. Good on them, they made a good game, and they can do whatever the ♥♥♥♥ they want with it. It's their IP. Go make your own thing leftodis.
