Game good. Game real good. Most of the issues seem to have been fixed.

I love and adore this game, despite a lot of the jank. I played through it multiple times on console, and decided to purchase it on Steam since it came with most of the dlc. This was before the decision was made to stop production on the content that people had already paid money for. The game will never be finished, and it has spoiled every new release of a FF game for me forever.

On the content of the game itself, combat is janky and buggy at times even in the current state. You either torture yourself doing basic melee attacks or mix together enough magic to trivialize every encounter except the scripted ones, and the scripted ones are boring and drag on way too long for how grandios they're supposed to be. Quests can devolve down into annoying fetch quests even nearing the end of the game, including making you fight incredibly annoying boss encounters and spend upwards of an hour to two hours trying to navigate through a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ cave system or a ruin. There is important story context that's just not included in the game at all, a cardinal sin SE likes to commit to as a tradition it seems. You need to watch a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ movie just to know what actually happens during the incident that gets the game's plot moving. The best part of this game is fishing, camping, and driving in the car. Hanging out with your bros is the only truly enjoyable part of any of this. I barely got to see my waifu, and she'll never get any dlc either, even though she is one of the most important characters in the story.

Iggy's cooking is 10/10 tho.

This game shot me in both my feet and then kidnapped my entire family. 10/10 would put cocaine in the soup again.

Guys, what is going on? It has been over a year now, and we've only got one campaign and three characters? They desperately don't want to open up the workshop for this game, but they need to. Obviously, they are having issues creating campaigns.

I can recreate Chernobyl on an asteroid and have squirrelplantcat hanging upside down from the ceiling. I don't think I need to say anymore.

I really want to recommend this game. I really do. But in its current state, I just can't. My friends and I are trying to make the most of it, but the frustration of trying to play through this game on high difficulties is so infuriating. The game is lagging worse than in the beta, with worse infected spawns than in the beta. Enemies will just appear on you. Playing as Karlee, I looked to my left after entering a house to see 6 Reekers trying to push each other through the door like they were trying to exit a clown car. This was without the Reeker Horde card. Enemies are bullet sponges and some of their designs, mainly the Tallboy and the Bruiser, prevent you from hitting their weakspots until you're behind them or until they've already taken a swing. The AI Director will spawn 5 grab type enemies at the same time, effectively ending your game unless you're just lucky or have a huge stockpile of stunguns. You still cannot swap weapon parts on the fly, even though that's something people were asking for since the beta. I could go on. This game is fun sometimes , but usually it's because you're playing with friends who make the experience fun anyway. Otherwise, it's a ♥♥♥♥ show.

Edit: Alright, after doing everything this game has to offer and completing it on the final difficulty, I've found that I can't recommend this anymore. It's one of the most halfassed titles I've had the displeasure of playing through. I have never been this frustrated with a game. There was nothing challenging about this. It's all artificial. And I am so checked out of this experience that I actually don't care what is being released for it. Unless the free dlc that they're adding to this trashfire overhauls the entire thing, I'm not interested. There was no enjoyment or feeling of accomplishment when I finished this. They have completely ruined everything on the technical level of this game. Not even enemies that were in the previous one work like they normally would. Capcom, next time give the game to your main team. This is absolutely abysmal and a complete downgrade from RE2R.

---

Ok, first of all, actually really enjoyed the game on the first playthrough. I've been anticipating this since it was announced and I pretty much instantly bought it as soon as it was available for preorder. The cast is all great, and feel more human than ever. Some of Jill's dialog near the end is a bit cringe, but it's a RE game, so whatever.

That being said, I'm kind of disappointed. I maybe played five minutes of the original game when I was a kid, and even without that prior knowledge, this game feels really lackluster. Nemesis isn't a constant in the game. If you've played RE2R you might compare him more to Birkin than Mr. X. Opening sequences are great, but he is extremely scripted. Not ever really surprised when he's coming, and his later mutations don't help him either. The game starts to kind of slow to a crawl around the midway point. My feeling of dread and uneasiness quickly left me when I started to realize I would never get Nemesis bursting through a wall or a store window, and he wouldn't be jumping down at me from rooftops as I explored the city (what little exploring the city there is). The basic zombies are missing their gore. Limbs explode off the body instead of slowly and grossly falling off like they used to. There's also no variation on how much damage they take. It became a cycle of '3-5 headshots with the pistol depending on the zone, then 2-4 stabs' and they're dead. Gone is the emptying an entire clip into one of them, only to have them get up again later on (a good or a bad thing depending on your perspective). Their heads still pop like cantaloupes with a crit tho, so that's still cool. Also did not enjoy my knife and grenades taking up a main weapon slot, and did not appreciate having to purchase two hip pouches after my first playthrough with ingame points. I can understand cosmetics or extra weapons, but hip pouches? Unnecessary.

And say what you want about the length. It's short, even for RE3. The tacked on multiplayer does not make up for that. You have no reason to replay it after completing it other than to play through the other difficulties. I replayed RE2R a lot and always felt like I had something to come back to. I don't feel that here. I've only put in 11 hours and I'm already bored.

I do very much recommend this game, but not at its current price point. $40 would have been much better, but even that's pushing it. If you're planning to get it, wait until the hype dies down and buy it when it's on sale.
