I have spent more time in GMOD seven eleven than I have in every gas station I have been to in my life combined

I will preface this by saying I'm someone who doesn't really get sucked into many rogue likes, even when playing some of the bests such as dead cells and such.

Having said that, Risk of Rain 2 is that game that I play for a couple days, get destroyed in a run that I think is going to be my mastery, quit for a couple weeks, just to come right back to again.

In no other game I have played makes me go from feeling like a squishy little bug scurrying around to gather items to hopefully survive one more teleporter boss, to an unstoppable god cutting down all those who stand in my way with my collection of items, before facing death yet again due to my own hubris. Its one of those games that can so easily go from feeling near immortal to facing something that you just can't seem to kill fast enough or dodge well enough to pull through on.

Now, that may make the game seem unfair, and at times that may be the case. Getting screwed over by items can happen over and over, but even then ROR2 provides so many different trade offs to let you really feel the effects of your choices on your run, and gives you a good grasp of your risk to reward for the course of your run. You can choose to fight more bosses on TP to gain more items as drops from defeating them, or you can do a shrine of combat to fight harder enemies that give you more money to open more crates and terminals. Each run can turn out completely different depending on the choices you make and hand you are given, and that doesn't even account for the multitude of characters with different play styles to play, or later on the different artifacts you can activate to add new challenges and rules to your run.

ROR2 is the game that keeps on giving, and though I may still be slightly uncertain on its fate under gearbox, at the moment is one of the games I have had some of the most fun on with friends as well as by myself.

Its a short, sweet, slightly difficult but not infuriating game. The art is beautiful and it only took me about an hour to beat, but for the small price of $2 it is worth its price 100%
