There are few games which can replicate that feeling of utter dread, terror, and hopelessness when a bulk detonator spawns during the most grueling mission you've ever been through.

I wouldn't have it any other way. Rock and Stone.

I initially brought this since I enjoyed the board game Diplomacy.

At first I did enjoy learning the game but as time went on, it became apparent there was a lot of micromanagement which was not for me. Another major issue is that much of the content also gets samey, although mods helped somewhat. The fact that a lot of content is behind DLC hampers my perception of this game even more. The base game feels so barebones and after a while, it just stops getting fun. A few mods can somewhat help, but ultimately DLC content seems almost required to enjoy this game more.

If you like micromanagement and WWII era history (which was never that strong for me and continuously waining, another reason why I stopped), I would only recommend this game for its mods and/or if you really want the DLC.

I didn't think this game would be for me, yet here I am loving every bit of it. I love the illusion of unstoppability being shattered by a single projectile, really makes the game not too easy once you get past stage 5.

If you can, play multiplayer. The carnage is even more insane there.

Also, it has rex :D

I can't believe all of the emotions I've experienced during my playthrough in a game about bugs

Early Access Review
This game is fun and challenging, and it's great, especially for Early Access. Plenty of features and challenges in this game.

I will say I enjoyed the premise.

What I don't enjoy is literally everything else about this game.

The main progression can be kind of rough, especially at the beginning which makes retaining a playthrough tedious. As a 2D sandbox however, Terraria excels with a plethora of tools at its disposal. Hundreds of blocks can be used, painted, and arranged making building unique and versatile every time.

I personally suck at building. Still, I enjoy the amount of creativity present and admire the builds which my friends create.
