Once in a lifetime game.

It's ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ Chucky of course you want to play as him. He's one of the most fun killers they've added to this game who's in a perfect spot balance wise, don't let the negative reviews convince you otherwise. Also Brad Douriff reprises his role with so many incredible voicelines, I got him to P100 and I've never gotten bored of hearing his voice. Incredible addition.

I was on the fence on whether to leave a positive or negative review, but I've finally made up my mind. The gunplay is fun and feels good, and I like what portals bring to the table as it opens the entire map up when you start thinking about how to use them. However, I still have a few gripes with the game, and after last night's SGF I feel like my gripes are solidified.

For lack of better terms, Splitgate has become "compslop", with the core mode being a 4v4 round based mode that's reminiscent of every other "competitive" shooter currently on the market (think Valorant, R6 Siege, Overwatch's comp mode, etc). Another major difference between this game and Splitgate 1 is the addition of the classes, that really just pigeonhole you into team composition which feels incredibly forced and unnatural. I was willing to look past this because I liked the core gameplay and the 24-player mode offered a nice alternative, but I still wish it didn't go this route.

However last night's SGF was the nail in the coffin for me. Let's not even get into the political messaging that the "Make FPS Great Again" hat sends, but the statement being paired with Splitgate 2 is a complete joke. "We're tired of every game being the same!!" and the base game is compslop and the new mode they revealed seconds later is a battle royale lmao yeah okay. Not even mentioning the appalling prices in the item shop. This game "launched" it's "open beta" with a £30 skin with additional payments available to "upgrade" the skin. Beyond parody.

I really really wanted to enjoy this game. I loved Splitgate 1, played every alpha for Splitgate 2, and put just under 20 hours into the "open beta" that launched with MTX, but I just have no further interest in playing this game; and if you're on the fence I'd say give it a pass.

I’ve been playing games all my life, and no other game has made me feel the way Omori has.
Omori is a beautiful game with an incredibly touching and impactful story. The combat is very good too, don’t let people who don’t like RPGs tell you otherwise. Life changing game.

If you want to unlock and try out all the characters, you literally won’t have enough time before the game shuts down lmao
