An extremely well done survival game with tons of mechanical depth, great world to explore, interesting story you have to look deep to see all topped off with an incredible art style. You could easily sink hundreds of hours into this game and still learn something new the next time you play a simple 9/10 must play game for anyone who likes survival games.

A ♥♥♥♥♥♥ unity asset flip game. Best experienced with some buddies for a quick laugh. Mediocre puzzles and enemies to avoid. Best part of the game is its beatable in under the steam refund policy time so you get your money back but sadly not your time.

Payday 2 is one of the greatest co-op games of all time. Nothing plays like payday 2 and nothing probably ever will. However the game is riddled with so many issues its actually impossible to list them all in a reasonable time frame.

Lets start on the technical level. This games networking is actually awful especially when they swapped to epic online servers. Failed to join game is a common outcome the game will show you full lobbies as being borderline empty. The game refuses to try to sync players when they fail to sync causing you and your friends to need to join and leave each other over and over again until it finally works (sometimes needing the lobby or even game restarts). So after struggling to get into a game you crash. You will be doing this a lot. Payday 2 is extremely unstable due to its general age and amount of updates. The most common is out of memory the game is 32bit and can only run on 4gigs of memory. Some maps in the game will go over this limit causing your game to crash. Luckily this is easy to fix with just setting your graphics to medium. However all of the other crashes aren't as easy. Most of which need you to download mods in order for the game to work. There is one specific crash I want to mention though as its more of a show of just how terribly this game is made. People are able to host games with impossible information causing anyone who opens the online menu to insta crash. This is actually unacceptable to not be fixed especially with the amount of dlc this game is selling to its players.

This games monetization scheme is dreadful with tons of bloated, powercreep, and poorly thought out DLCs in the later years. The texas heat campaign is the perfect example. All of the weapons are just stronger versions of older things with far lower quality. From misaligned sights to animations that do not match the rest of the games style all at a higher cost. But don't worry with the new payday 2 subscription you can test all the DLCs for a cheaper price in a game that barely works! To make sure you don't just buy the DLC for the game they also raised the price of the content.

This goes into my last important topic the people who make the game. Starbreeze developers are truly passionate people with a love for the game. However with the insane deadlines they cannot make quality. Their love for the game does not save them from an inability to actually balance it but I know most people don't care for pve balance so I wont go into detail about that. They also refuse to talk to the community about the game and even tell you what they changed in updates. In the 240 series of updates the game got a giant amount of changes the patch notes will just not tell you. This causes things to be found months after the update goes live an example of this is fire damage over time proccing grinders healing ticks which it didn't do for YEARS.

Overall payday 2 is a game that plays like nothing else. Its one of the greatest video games I have ever played. The problem is starbreezes generally neglect of the games health all while finding new ways to milk it (pd2 subscription). If you really want to play this game grab it on sale as it goes on sale for dirt cheap and its still an amazingly fun game when it works. Just make sure to download all the mods that fix the games many crashes.
