Early Access Review
The developers are completely scatter brained and focused on spectacle rather than actually nailing down a core gameplay loop that was literally handed to them from their previous work on the original. A hyperfocus on more wispy "feelings" of what subnautica supposedly is rather than what the original was. They will pound their chest with the battered medal of early access but act like a-holes when you ask why they removed basic player agency by making the fauna props that can't be damaged. If you are going to make a game to promote the idea of ecological impact, at least don't be lazy and rely on just removing player agency to score points because you find it icky and instead weave it into the narrative of the game (Kill too many prey items, predators become more aggressive, kill too many leviathans and you change the ending for the worse). The developers are being shrinking violets while detrimentally affecting their own product just to satisfy their own grievances.

Very poor optimization and an infinite load screen just after the dwarf village means it is completely unplayable. Tried multiple times.

The overall core gameplay loop is good, keep it. Although, it should just be the road, not the destination. This game is way too bare bones to enjoy for longer than ten hours. It seriously needs an overhaul in terms of dangling a carrot on the stick for players to enjoy achieving.

The overuse of mini-boss enemies is extremely repetitive. Instead of being a surprise for the player, you are instead well aware that if you follow the key finding loop in an interior location, you are guaranteed to be given a cycled mini-boss that just seems to be over used to try hide the lack of substance to playing the game. With the old Dead Frontier (We can talk about its heavy use of pay to win back in the day another time) you had the illusive behemoth that was rarely sighted but extremely feared by the community back in the day. Now we just have bullet sponges with odd bits thrown at us every ten minutes.

TL;DR 6/10, very bare bones but there is real potential but the Devs seem more focused on fluffy holiday events than giving the player base some meat. The gameplay loop should be the foundation, not the headline act

DOOM 2016 on steroids. It lives up to the hype. A definite spend with no regrets attached
