Cute take on RTS roguelites. The game tells you whether or not any of your units are going to take damage on the enemy turn, which makes it a lot easier to just play the game and run strategy rather than save-scum and attempt to learn how to manipulate the AI. Got it on sale, and for the price, I'm entirely happy with it.
The mechs don't feel particularly big or stompy - they just feel like little guys, honestly. The customization punishes you hard for waffling on your decisions, but it's flexible enough with letting you make swaps mid-fight (with the premise of 'nanomachines, son!') that it isn't a big deal.
Six bucks, and twelve hours later, and I'm glad it was here to let me unwind after a hard work week.

What it lacks in raw equipment options, it makes up for with significantly improved map design, focus, and attempted storytelling. Yeah, the voice acting is a little odd and stilted, but given the backstory that feels like a deliberate choice of showing how Smoke Jaguar is this sort of sterile, stilted all-or-nothing military regime. Co-op is still somewhat touchy, but still a massive improvement over MW5:Mercs, and allows everyone to play relatively well.

If you're not already a mechwarrior fan, full price is probably asking a bit much on this one, but as a co-op campaign it's proving pretty darn good, and there's certainly a lot of room for this one to grow with future expansions.

Imagine if Fallout hadn't got Bethesda'd, and actually wrote their own music instead of crutching on public-access oldies. A brilliantly fun, interesting and well-assembled CRPG from the IP that started post-apocalyptic RPGs. Co-op's a bit wonky but good for 2, character loadouts and diversity let you have a lot of fun putting everything together, plenty of clever little moments, old references and gags coupled with an inspired low-fi soundtrack of pop songs as one might recreate them in a bunker.

Well-worth the asking price, exceptionally good on-sale for a 40-80 hour campaign full of twists, turns, tactics, terrors and carnage.

Don't get this DLC in particular. If you did get it by mistake, don't play it. The fights are really bad, full of endless monster spawners and overwhelmingly strong enemies - seriously, even fully-kitted power armour on my melee tank didn't keep him from getting one-round wrecked by adds on higher difficulties. On top of that, there are multiple fights where you have to hope the ENEMY NPCs stand in SPECIFIC SPOTS. Yeah, no, if *I* have to stand somewhere it's fine. Hoping a brainless rad-wasted moron stands on a spot is not happening.

The rest of the game is amazing. This DLC is super tedious and has the only questline that asks you to completely kill off a party member to get a peaceful result.

Since its release, this game got 1 new class, making a total of 3. Each class is locked to a single weapon type only, and there is no real variation in that weapon type's mechanics. It gets pretty stale and stiff pretty quickly, and now it's being dropped entirely for some season pass thing.

Abandon hope, all ye who enter here, for the devs have abandoned thee.

I hate to say it, but this game is inferior to No Man's Sky in most ways, and what ways it isn't worse than NMS it's worse than Elite Dangerous. It's got all of the XP grind of Fallout with a fraction of the content, even more generic feelings than Skyrim with none of the lore or magic, and no bravery in what it tries to do.

Oh, but it does have a main plotline, given to you by only a single faction - no multiple storylines/factions to work with in a Bethesda game. At the end of that, you get a reset button that takes absolutely all of your stuff, erases everything you've built, and resets all NPCs. I don't know why anybody would want that.

Extremely jittery physics, fruits are constantly shaking and shifting in an absurd fashion, unpleasant sound effects and it has a microtransaction store for absolutely no reason but to grab yet more cash.

Very difficult to get into - and I mean that quite literally. Server space is dwarfed by player base, you really gotta be choosy about when you're trying to play or you'lll be in queue for way too long. After that, though, I'm digging the vibrant art style and the game on display.

Mod support is actual torture for this single-player game and the ea launcher won't leave us in friggin' peace.

While the new factions are 'tribals' as depicted by a bunch of white americans who seem to have never met a single first nations clan, basing their depictions off of bad spaghetti westerns and racist depictions, you also get a bible-quoting gunslinger of very questionable morals asking you to go do a genocide. All this with scavenger hunts, prolonged amounts of walking and zig-zagging about vertical spaces, and a whole host of largely re-used monsters makes for an experience that hasn't aged at all well and never feels like it offered much to begin with.
