The game is in a really unfortunate state right now. While it can still be fun, I suggest watching a video on the present bugs so you can avoid breaking your run.

Today we can't even put a lobby of 3 together, one member always gets stuck at the title screen no matter who hosts.

At the end of both of our runs my friends were booted from the game before we could finish. The previous bug mention is still present. It doesn't seem to happen when you turn on crossplay.
