I'll preface this by saying I don't think this game will do crazy player numbers so take that how you will

beyond that, it's well built, feels good, and minus some weirdness with rewards being oddly slow to unlock (I'm still waiting on some from the deluxe edition 24 hours later) is relatively bug free.

solo play seems rather variant. Most of my friends can't seem to stop running into people, I can't seem to find anyone. The AI are rather tough still, I think they might have toned them down a smidge from the server slam but I wouldn't quote that. The rotating free kit is pretty nice to have when I don't want to ball out and risk stuff on my own (lack of) skill.

trios/duos is also decently fun even if I do have a mild gripe about everything requiring you and your up to two or three friends only be friends with each other at the same time and no one else ever. it kinda sucks but what're you gunna do that's not the games fault.

The big edit cuz that was way too long and it's season 2 now

The gameplay has been fairly consistent, if there have been boosts or nerfs I've not noticed them in any meaningful way. The game itself is decently fun, not perfect by any stretch of the imagination, but fun. this is the short, I'll say a solid 7 or 8/10.

now the long:

A lot of the maps feel fairly tight, the community seems more upset about this than I am personally, but it does seem like they've found a sort of between for "large scale" and "still walkable if your team leaves you without a vehicle" in most cases which is largely ok with me. Only big gripe with most of them is if they're not really tight quarter city blocks, they're really open and barren, barring the new one (it is 2/20/2026) which seems fairly littered with stuff to hide behind so it's not quite as much of a sniper alley.

vehicles feel pretty good, if a bit easy to pop if you get caught out especially in the case of the ifv. people tend to be really shy with them as a result. this is not the case for the AA tank and for some reason you're expected to be front lining despite the thing being a crap shoot for killing anything that isn't the size of a building. I genuinely don't understand the communities relationship with armor and I don't really care to figure it out.

The match making still seems kinda feast or famine, the team I'm on is either getting rolled or rolling, though more evenly split matches seem to be becoming more common. There seem to be a fair amount of people that just kind of give up after you hit a 100 ticket deficit in the lobbies which may or may not be part of it. beyond that, there are like half a dozen people that are either just cracked or other wise suspiciously good.

The challenges have gone from kinda annoying to do to a joke. There was a happy medium there for a bit but it's gone now and, as much as I get it, it's functionally "log in and play a few matches of conquest" to do things that are supposed to take a week and that's wild to me. There's also still a battle royal here and I'm not sure why, but it's probably fun to people who like those. I can't say anything, I tried it like twice and I still suck at them. Maybe I'll try it again, maybe not, gauntlet is pretty fun though. I wish the events were modes instead of temp things. Maybe even on rotation at minimum. I do also agree with what someone else said that there should be more emphasis and participation in the player created ones even though I do kinda lean to the dice curated stuff. I think the "Friday night battlefield" thing is honestly pretty sick even if it's not something I've dabbled in much.

and for the spicy stuff:

It's going in a direction, the direction feels largely ok. I just wish people would give it a chance to figure out what that direction needs to be. It's not going to be any of the old ones, it never was. it can reference them, and they plan to because they agree it'd be cool, but it's not a remake and was never supposed to be. throwing a fit because it isn't isn't constructive and it's exhausting to see as much of it as there is. Maybe I'm terminally online, maybe I've put too much time in and I'm looking at it with rose tinted glasses, but y'all gotta chill with the comparison because it's gunna sap any of the fun out of it you could be having. I'm not saying don't have criticisms because they're incredibly valuable, but some of these criticisms actually suck and you need to get over yourselves.

It took I don't know how many years and iterations of this game for me to finally get to the "end" of the campaign. I firmly believe this is a very important one to run through for just about anyone. A lot of the themes are solid and respectful allegories about mental illnesses, the game play and story telling have moved leaps and bounds from what I remember way back when (no pun intended), the scoring is powerful and beautiful. It's more or less truly a free game, unless you don't want it to be, that can be enjoyed solo but enjoyed better with friends. It's by no means flawless, but it's worth the pedestal a great many people put it on.

I won't lie, I got a bit concerned when I went to get the link for the release trailer for a friend and I saw a bunch of "this was disappointing" in the results before I go the chance to give it a try, but I can't say I share in the disappointment.

The graphics are very good. the game is visually beautiful and the mocap/animations in particular feel substantially better than the original. The world feels a great deal more open and is absolutely gorgeous as a result. There's also some wild details to character models that I have noticed/that people watching me play have pointed out to me.

The game play itself is about the same as the original, and ultimately not all that complex. The combat style is really basic, it's a lotta walking and looking at scenery. That said, it doesn't necessarily need to be in my opinion, as both titles have seemed to be more focused on the general spectacle in both art direction and story. I do understand how that can be make or break for some, people, though so use that information as you will.

That said, at about 6 or so hours for an initial run, I feel the story is well put together. I wont say it hit me nearly as hard as the prior did, but that's no where near saying I'm disappointed in what I got. It feelt like a very natural next step in the over arching tale with only one or two minor inconsistencies that I've noticed. Not entirely sure if I agree that the latter half felt rushed like I keep seeing; but I am, however, kind of curious if they're going to do anything with the ending as it does feel a bit more.....sequel baitey than the last one did if only by a little bit.

all in all 9/10

At the time of writing this, I don't have a lot of the time in the game. That said, the little time has been very fun, but more importantly I've seen very few modern communities successfully revert wildly silly and moderately tone deaf corporate decisions, let alone with the active and loud support of the devs. That's absolutely a group of people I can recommend regardless of my enjoyment of the game itself.

I keep coming back to this game on occasion and it still has a lot of it's charm from when I played it way back. small community, though it has grown a bit or at least some new faces have cycled in, which means you get a bunch of repeat faces which can be a blessing or a curse depending on if you can play well with others or not. I've yet to not find a lobby that's not been, if not willing to actively participate in, at least be accepting of goofy antics and generally delightful to be around.

The art style is cute, the atmosphere is welcoming and lighthearted, the game play is just simple enough that it's easy to pick up and run with but has just enough nuance to it to make it feel rewarding when you do start to get rolling. very good title that's worth your free time after a stressful day.

Rolled up on some mans cabin in a three stack. Proceeded to lob enough cs gas and high velocity rubber balls to strip whatever paint was on the walls down to bare wood into said cabin. Arrest the two men on the main floor and stack up on a door to move further in. lead checks door for traps, finds none, breaches the door, and ends up a fine mist on the opposite wall anyway.

10/10

Jokes aside, the 1.0 update is pretty stellar. Beyond some mild what I can only assume to be net issues on my end causing things like traps and evidence to occasionally not pop up for friends, and maybe some ai tweaks; while not perfect, things feel a great bit smoother and more stable fps wise, the gun play is just as nice as it always was, and the addition of un-lockable cosmetics you get some more reasons to come back and try things in different ways. Given this is coming from someone who has almost exclusively played co-op with friends, so take that into account. Absolutely pick this up, if you're considering it, and best of luck out there!

The story's pretty eh and kind of all over the place, and the missions are largely "cram as much ♥♥♥♥ in a small room as we can and force the player to do it all in one life" at least on legend. Strand is pretty neat and fun to play around with, and the season stuff isn't too too bad, though. I'd say go for it if you really want it. If you're just starting, though, just get the witch queen up till now bundle and decide from there. This isn't really worth being your starting point, at least in my opinion.

your game will lag, there's no getting around this unless you avoid public lobbies all together or put an absurd amount of money into your rig (and even then it's less an if and more a when). That aside, if you give it a chance, you'll meet some great people and you'll meet some not so great people. It's got some pretty fun user created games, and some pretty damn gorgeous user created worlds. you can throw parties, you can watch some dude scream through a lobby and wonder what his neighbors think, you can stare blankly at a child telling you they're "cracked at fortnight" while wearing the resemblance of well endowed anime girl.

I also blacked out drunk in my living room wearing easily a grand in hardware at least three separate times. 10/10 best social sandbox game experience since my sl days.

It's a hoard game bout aliums, not much else can be said. Decent game play wise, but the longer I play the more obvious it is how low the player count actually is. Over all, not really anything breath taking but it's got nothing that's really worth complaining about either. Pretty sure someones lover left them for some corn bread though, cuz man the npcs seem to hate it.
