The online mode is a disaster, which spoils an otherwise fun game. Every online session has people using a hack client. Some do it to circumvent all the fruitless grinding (Rockstar really wants you to buy those shark cards) and others do it just to grief people. It's very difficult to earn substantial amounts of money without losing everything to modders.

Example:

Today, I tried to sell product worth about $500k. I have to deliver the product with three separate helicopters. I take the first and get a notification the one of the helicopters has been destroyed by another player. I inform him that he's costing me a lot of money and kindly ask him to stop. I finish delivering product with the first helicopter then fly to the remaining undestroyed helicopter to try to salvage something. The same modder that destroyed one of my helicopters then teleports on top of me, kills me and then destroys the remaining helicopter. This happens more often than not.

It doesn't end there. A single player using a hack client can ruin an entire online session. They can actually crash your game to desktop and irritate you in a hundred other ways. Unless you want to buy this for the single player experience, I'd recommend staying away from this game.

Very kind of Bethesda to offer this upgrade to players who already owned all of the DLC. As far as the game is concerned, the graphical update was enough to make me play through this game for the 4th time. Once again, Bethesda does their customers and their games right.

Come and lose yo life.

I went into this game with fairly high hopes. I have to say that so far they've been met. I've had a few minor problems. 3 crashes in 11 hours, which for me is not game-breaking. A little stuttering and some fps drops but most of the time it has been running great. None of those problems caused me to die or lose anything. Some problems are to be expected the day a game like this launches. Unless you're a spoiled 13 year old who is predisposed to screaming when things don't go exactly your way, you shouldn't find this game overly frustrating and it will most certainly improve with each patch. Be calm, be patient and enjoy yourself.

As far as gameplay goes, it's fairly interesting and unique. I could see how it might get a bit grindy after a while but the procedural generation does much to combat that. So does the story. I find myself actually reading every interaction with entities and objects. And the game is overwhelmingly beautiful and immersive. And somehow simultaneously calming and exciting.

I would have to recommend this game. I feel like the devs had vision while making it and care enough to continue to refine it. I've spent $60 on worse games. This one is definitely worth the money.

EDIT:

After spending more time with this game, I feel compelled to edit my review. I was expecting more. It feels like half a game, like the framework for a great game is there, but like there was a deadline and they just slapped a big ol' DONE sticker on it and handed it to us. I wonder if Sony had anything to do with that. Anyway, yes, I can see this game being great a year or two from now if the devs keep patching in quality content. As it stands, there's just too little content to keep me interested. I wanted to take my own long, meandering path towards the conclusion of the game but after 60-something hours, I felt like I had done everything several times over. Fingers crossed that the devs make good on their promises in the coming months. I don't believe this was the game they set out to make.

Felt like half a game. So much potential. Still not bad, but Civ V is better.
