Helldivers 2 is one of those rare games that just works whether you're playing solo at 2AM or dropping into chaos with a full squad.

You can absolutely run missions alone if you want that focused, tactical experience — planning your stratagems carefully, picking your fights, and surviving by the skin of your teeth. But the real magic happens in multiplayer. Whether you're coordinating perfectly with friends or dealing with randoms who may or may not accidentally drop an airstrike on your position… it always creates a story.

The freedom in playstyle is a huge win. Want to be the heavy weapons specialist laying down suppressing fire? Go for it. Prefer a shield-and-support role? Do it. Sneaky objective runner? Also viable. Everyone brings something different, and that variety keeps the game fresh.

Yes, it can be stressful. Higher difficulties will absolutely test your patience and teamwork. Sometimes random teammates make it smoother. Sometimes they make it pure chaos. But honestly? That unpredictability is part of the charm.

One mission you’re sweating through waves of bugs or automatons, the next you’re laughing because someone mistyped a stratagem and dropped supplies on the squad instead of a sentry turret.

That’s war.
