If you've ever been anxious about trying a FromSoftware Soulsborne title, or any Souls-like, this is a great option to dip your toes into this world of punishing, yet rewarding, action RPGs. It is by no means easier than other titles, but it has subtle ways to make it more accessible. Having trouble with a boss? Go in a different direction and level. Find a new weapon or potion. Don't be afraid to look up guides or cheese your way through a fight. The game rewards you for being clever, researching, preparing, and paying attention.

Unlike other FromSoft Soulsborne titles, you can't be invaded by other players for PvP unless you invite them or you have friends summoned. This is a major quality of life improvement. Similarly, this game is more liberal with its lore, making it much more engaging, though still have much mystery to be deciphered.

The most important part of Elden Ring is patience. You will die. You will lose saved currency for leveling and buying items. What's more important is what you learn. These type of games are a humbling experience that task you to progressively get better at dealing with one challenge after another. If you enjoy gaining mastery, exploration, and uncovering mysteries, then you will likely enjoy Elden Ring if you can embrace its brand of teaching.
