To be honest, I'm not the target audience for this game. At least, not how it launched back in the day. I like a lot of the direction TF2 took post-2010 (the era this mod was originally made to replicate). I largely appreciate how convenient Casual Mode has made the game, I think a lot of modern weapons are staples for how I play, and the taunt ecosystem has become a core part of the game's identity. So every time I hear about another TF2 mod trying to replicate the glory days, I groan and roll my eyes.

This mod is so much more. With the shedding of the name "Classic", this mod really gets to showcase the best of what it can be: something new. The game looks beautiful, runs more smoothly than vanilla TF2 ever has, and does it all with more new content than TF2 has had in nearly a decade. The quality of that content is a bit of a mixed bag (weapon balancing is questionable, and the Civilian is still a meme even though they're trying to fix that), but there's a clear identity here. This game wants to be something and that's so much more than I can say about the last several "throwing random Workshop content at the wall" updates for the base game.

I look forward to this new era in TF2C's development. I know this is missing the point a bit, but I do hope they become more willing to bring back some vanilla weapons in the coming updates, and perhaps give us some more granular server search features. These modern conveniences would go a long way for me.

tried giving overwatch 2 a shot today! it told me to sign in through battle.net, so I went to do that and then it told me to check the authenticator app and I haven't had that on my phone in 5+ years

so I try to email their customer support and it makes me answer some security questions first. but they aren't normal security questions it's ♥♥♥♥ like "what month did you make your first wow character" and "how many hearthstone card packs have you opened" which like how would anyone know these so I got them all wrong and it locked me out

then I go to make a new account and it asks me for more information than I had to put in for financial aid in college so I uninstalled overwatch 2

is this what it's like to play a multiplayer game these days

I was really looking forward to this game. I boot up and it asks me for permission to connect to Capcom ID. I click accept, and nothing happens. I do this a few more times, then decide to look up what that is. Apparently I have to go to their website to make an account, which it forgot to tell me. Whatever, fine, minor issue. I go do that, boot the game back up, and it fails to connect. But it tells me that I can play the single player without it, and that's really what I wanted to check out first anyway, so I just move on.

The single player campaign is not playable. I have never seen a game drop in the past 20 years that SLOWS DOWN when it drops below 60fps. And it's never at 60fps. Characters jump in slow motion, it's like we're fighting underwater. I wasn't surprised at all to look up my performance issues (on minimum settings with a 6600XT by the way) and find that the game has Denuvo. Are we really still not at a point where companies learn the problems with this? Embarrassing for Capcom to release a game like this in 2023. Wait a week for when they inevitably remove Denuvo after the game gets cracked anyway because it doesn't even work.
