Bethesda/Zenimax has forced Id Software to introduce Denuvo Anti-Cheat/DRM into Doom Eternal via the latest game update, a malware with such intrusively low-level Ring 0 kernel access that it borks the game's otherwise flawless Proton compatibility for SteamOS/GNU+Linux players & could even brick our OS instances. Denuvo's implementation is also causing issues & inconvenience for Doom Eternal's Windows players as well. Overall this software is a huge security vulnerability for all players' computers. It should be said that this affects single-player; it doesn't just kick in for multiplayer like any self-professed 'anti-cheat' scheme should be limited to.
