I'm only 3 hours in and so far the best way I'd describe it is if you went to visit the mine on the first day of Stardew and then got locked in. I'm seeing a lot of progression mechanics that go deeper than stardew though and I'm really excited to get to the automation as the farming has been involved enough and relaxing.
