Cluttered Worlds: Starfields Cryptonite
The gameplay is alright but nothing new: You got your guns and your melee - loot mechanics in a 1st Person perspective.

So lets get into lore and story right away, because that's the only worthwile stuff to mention and why you might want it: *spoiler*
If you don't act like an university champagne socialist the ingame characters will nonstop insult and mope at you, cuz they want you to go "WORKERS OF THE GALAXY UNITE AGAINST THE EVIL CAPITALISTS". The "posh" city housing the bad guys even has citizens that wear nothing but top hats and fine suits, how blunt and simple does your worldview have to be to find this engaging?
So I just winged it and wanted to go for what the devs probably'd call "bad ending" and it really made me laugh (wont spoil).
The story is literally the movie 'Elysium', if you have seen it -taking place in an entire galaxy, with a focus on corporatism. Watch that movie and think about who you'd rather side with.

I must praise this game that it AT LEAST lets you choose who you ally with (even though all options are terrible) and aren't forced like in Starfield with everyone being an essential NPC (in this game you can shoot almost everyone, I wiped out the entirety of the space philosophers who worship SCIENCE and could actually!)

So yeah I don't know I would rather give this a neutral rating rather than a bad one. However for the sake of recommending as some sort of "must play" masterpiece I gotta say no, hence the negative review.

This game though is a million times better than Starfield and if youre not sure which of those two to get, get this one if it has to be one. This game will at least leave an impact on you.

✔️Exactly what you hope to get from a 3rd Person Adventure game // They refined the playability and succeeded to bring the series closer to the PS1 titles again in all its linear glory.
✔️ You don't have to play 1-3. cause it's sort of a prequel. Lore is very 90s.
✔️Smooth and works perfectly with a controller.
❌Dingodile section is a drag, Tawna is cringe but fun.
❌Completionism/100%'ing it is CBT.

Garfield.

Was a cool game and is a cool game if you play online with other people. The whole Co-op and Singleplayer is broken, because they changed the AI from being a good challange to being completely idle - Easy to Extreme difficulty are all the same, except that the later difficulties have bigger armies that stop working after 15minutes. Before it was broken, the AI would always defend itself and rush you strategically - they implemented the AI kiting their units, fine , but for some reason that made them really weak, because once they kited their hurt units away to their zone they just keep them there for the rest of the game. In the past they would do everything they can to defend their base - now you can capture their base even if they have a huge army standing in the zone next to it - they will never move them to defend themselves from being terminated.

2/3 of the game are therefore unplayable. Multiple times you will notice on Extreme difficulty that they claim 1 zone, get it captured by Neutrals and then starve and not continue anything.

Really a shame.

Gatling camels, Vuvuzela soldiers, Black Female Warriors, Sebastopol Mortar.
DLC nations to make money out of a dead game, while the "Napoleonic Era" AoE3 mod included new, more refined nations.
Forces you to play the game for "Season unlocks" - missed a week? Unobtainable forever.
Crazy restrictive chat filter, that censors the most harmless words.

The game obviously is good, but that's thanks to Ensemble Studios that made it back in 2005.
Cashgrab for us suckers, who like the first 3 Age of Empires games, time to buy AoE1 HD HD HD when it comes out.

Disappointing for every true Klonoa fan.
These appalling blindly positive reviews of "JUST BUY IT" really skip over the old quality of Klonoa:

The stylized look is gone, the dream-like atmosphere was replaced with bright vomit colors for (adult) kids - changes to the cutscenes also alter the vibe in many ways.
If you want (your kid) to play this game, just dig out/get an old copy of Klonoa 1/2 for PS1 or the Wii remake. The only good thing about this is the controls and gameplay, which remain mostly spot on/untouched. If you don't want to bother having the games physical and just want the Klonoa 2.5D expirience bundled for its gameplay and not the entirety of it - this is your pick.

Speculation and less part of the review:
Many people here say "BUY THIS SO THEY MAKE MORE OF IT" - if they really choose to make a 3rd or new one, I just hope they do not look at the Reverie Series for reference, but judging from these reviews they prolly will and it will be ugly and without the magic.

Update:
I'm putting it to positive, because we live in a Remake/Remaster world and most new games really hold up even less. Crazy. It deserves a neutral rating for being a lesser version of the original games, but in itself it is decent and does not really deserve a negative. Shame we will never get more Klonoa because it is such a nieche franchise.

If you want to play the villain from Far Cry 5, this will NOT grant your wish.

Seems like this is Ubisofts answer to fans who liked some aspects of Seed: His faith, obsession to purify soul and mind, ideas to drop off all the corruption of the modern age ... it's all thrown overboard and replaced with loneliness and abandonment,a clouded mind and wretched soul, ideas on the line of "WHAT HAVE I DONE, I'M ACTUALLY THE BAAAAAD GUY WAAAH PLEASE IM SO SORRY, JUST LET EVERYONE BE A DEVIANT AND BE FREE BUTTERFLIES THAT USE LIFE TO HAVE FUN".

Idk .. just really a shame that they took out the depth of his character. You don't have to make a cult leader into a saint, but if you advertise this to be his perspective then ... man... you at Ubisoft really like to shoot yourself in the foot.
