As a fan of POOLS, This was also an incredible liminal experience. Granted, I played both this and POOLS with the help of some mushroom friends. That drastically amplified the experience, but this one genuinely had me feeling unsettled down to the core. If you liked POOLS, Or liminal horror in general, This is a good pickup, even if it's somewhat short.

It's a masterpiece. The story is far too bold, real, and sophisticated for some people to understand or appreciate. Some of the best combat/stealth of all time. Even being a few years old, The visuals and attention to detail are stunning. I've never let a game sit through it's entire credit screen until now.

Some people hate it, Say it "Ruined the franchise" or was the "worst game ever". They haven't graduated past their sippy cup and Disney movies. 300+ Awards and game of the year doesn't happen on accident.

Early Access Review
Currently not worth the asking price. It is still quite early in development and feels much more like a tech demo than a full game, even for early access. However, This game is still receiving a thumbs up from be because the potential this game has is incredible. The graphics are stunning, and the ragdoll physics coupled with the volume of the weapons and blurred faces lead to quite the jarring experience because it looks so realistic. If you are a fan of hardcore shooters id recommend giving this game a shot, but in its current state maybe wait til its on sale or it gets developed a little further. I have found some thorough enjoyment from this game and i am looking forward to see where these young indie developers take it from here!

"Mile wide and an inch deep"

Quite possibly the best description of this game. Initially i loved it, but then i played it more and started going through ng+ runs and quickly found myself completely disinterested. Ship building was probably where i found the most enjoyment, too bad you never actually fly your ship anywhere. Your only in orbit around a flat image "planet" that takes hours to fly up to and straight through. "Space travel" is clicking a couple buttons and, you guessed it, LOADING SCREEN where you pop out wherever in the galaxy you clicked, if you could even call it a galaxy. Then, if you wish to land on a planet, you need to go back into a menu and select a "landing location" Which, after another loading screen, then generates a randomly generated tile of land filled with rinse and repeat locations that you can find on nearly any planet, with the same enemies and loot spawning in the same exact places on every planet you come across. NPC's look terrible, and citizens and officers wont react to you unloading a magazine at their feet or behind their head.

The main story was at best OK. Hardly any emotional attachment to any of the characters, of which consist of the only followers/companions you can take with you on your adventures. Too bad they all have the same opinion on everything and you cant be an evil space pirate without any of them getting pissed at you and leaving. The characters tied to the main story with the exception of maybe Andreja are all incredibly bland. The faction questlines are actually quite decent with the exception of Ryujin industries that was simply a "go here do this and come back" the entire time.

The attempt to build such a massive world full of intertwining politics, stories, and questlines is certainly there, Bethesda has just fallen short on all fronts. In an effort to make it as big as possible, everything within this world is half-baked and just does not feel finished. Perhaps once more updates and DLC are released perhaps the base game will be worth a purchase, however in its current state i cannot recommend it to anybody for $70 dollars. For 7 years of development i am quite disappointed. Thankfully i am quite confident in the modding community being able to save this game and make it into what it was supposed to be, and what I'm sure many others envisioned this game to be, but untill that happens this game should be priced at $30, Not $70.

If this was Bethesda's big "Passion project" That took 7 years of development and had been planned on since before Morrowind, i am deeply afraid of what we will get when The Elder Scrolls 6 is released. Bethesda very well could have lost their way.
