Very fun sandbox building! Can be super chill or super intense, depending on the kind of experience you want.

Do I recommend this game? NO- I mean, yes!
Lots of great laughs, a well executed concept, and a very important overarching message

Early Access Review
A really fun concept that's well executed at it's core, I'm having a lot of fun so far! As a lot of the game's critics have pointed out, yes there is still a lot that could be fleshed out to make this game really shine and have staying power, and there are things that will probably need to be rebalanced over time, but personally I'm happy to let all that stuff slide because I went into this knowing full well that it was early access, and we can see from the roadmap, the patches that have already been released to improve the game, and the interaction that the devs have had with the reviews, that this is a game that is thoroughly cared about by its developers! Once the game has had the time to make it through all of the updates and additions that it is planned to have I can very much see this being one of my top games of the year.

Very nice first half of the opening cutscene, just wish I was allowed to play more than that.
I'm gonna stick it out and wait for the patch that hopefully makes this game, y'know, actually run, but I'd strongly suggest not buying it yet.
Once the game is hopefully fixed and I can play it a bit I'll change this review

Update:
Thanks to the latest update, I have been able to successfully pass the opening cutscene and I'm now enjoying the game to its fullest extent! Almost.
The game still suffers greatly from huge FPS drops, sometimes just slight reductions when I'm walking into a new area, sometimes waiting 5+ seconds for the game to load a new frame when I just turn around in the Mantis. I'm not on a weak machine by any means, there are points where I'm getting a nice 60 fps and I know I should be able to keep that up fairly well, so I'm guessing the optimisation of this game still needs some work.
When I'm not being lagged out of the experience however, I can say for sure that the mechanics of this game are fantastic. The combat is tight and rewarding to pull off, I started my first game on Jedi Master to challenge myself, and I'm glad I have, I feel just as powerful / underpowered as I should be to the various opponents in the game. The movement is very well crafted, I think I may have unlocked the last movement mechanics where I am in the game now, but I don't know that for sure, but what I do have makes for some great fun. The only thing I would ask for is maybe a better incorporation of movement into combat, I don't know if I just haven't seen them yet but I'd love some attacks that I could jump over instead of just dodging everything, or parrying. Finally the puzzles are well constructed as well, with plenty of different ones that I need to go back to now that I have more tools at my disposal. They do make me stop and think as well, some of them I got through fairly quick, others I did have to stop and experiment with for a while, and I did feel dumb for not noticing the solution sooner lol.
I do also think the story is great so far from what I've seen, though I won't comment on it too much because I don't think I have much of a critical eye for storytelling. I enjoyed Battlefront 2's story and everyone said the characters in that were dry, which I never thought. I just like stories in general I think, unless they're obviously very bad. Which this one isn't.
So yeah, Jedi Survivor is a really good game, just regrettably wrapped under a hundred layers of performance issues that really should have been addressed before release, but then again, it's EA. What did we expect?

You probably didn't think I would play this when you bought it as a joke for Christmas Dave.
You were wrong.
I finished it, Dave.

I had a lot of fun with it! Great soundtrack, good weapons that feel punchy (especially the shotgun that basically carried me through the game), overall pretty good.

There are just a few problems that should be addressed though:
Sensitivity is fixed, it would be great if you could change it. (Edit: Apparently this can be changed, but it's not a very obvious fix to the point where most people don't know how.)
The game was kinda short. Playing through all the main levels, not going for all the triangles, took me less than an hour.
You can't adjust your aim while shooting. On most weapons this isn't a problem as they are all single fire, but the fully auto minigun was a pain to use unless all your enemies were down a narrow corridor, so the minigun was most of the time just a quick burst fire weapon. Kinda defeats the point of a minigun.

That being said however, the game was still great fun to play regardless. Loved the soundtrack, the enemies, the challenge, and to top it all off, it's a free game!

Well done Vlambeer, would recommend.

Fact: The key to winning wars for valuable resources is trust. And as our data clearly shows, humans cannot be trusted. The solution? Robots!

*Dies from one T2 rail hit*

Then, fire the guys who made those robots... and build better robots!
