I love the shooting, the weapon customization system, and the concept of driving vehicles through hordes of zombies. This should be a dream game.

But the game was rather disappointing.

The monster design is bad, with some kind of tantacles attacking from the ground, some bright, sparkling monsters. The monsters don't look scary, they look like they're from cartoons. It's literally a feels like copy of everything bad that was in Back 4 Blood (I love that game, but the zombie design there is really bad).

The characters are unpleasant, uninteresting. They have some kind of magical ability to shoot electricity, because they are half monsters too. Awful.
The game has some kind of boring futurism like railgun and other stuff that dissonant with rest of the game.

Driving around the map is pointless because you're not running from zombies, and the car doesn't save you from zombies. You arrive at a point and kill all the enemies, and the cars are practically no help. Some monsters can simply pull you out of your car if you drive past them. What's the point?
You can't store or transport any resources in your car; there's no inventory; your character carries everything on their person.

The game has a lot of leveling up, including weapons, character classes, and cars. The grind puts me off. To upgrade your weapon, you need to collect orange mushrooms across the map. To buy a new scope for your rifle you need to run all over the map looking for them. This is a stupid and boring progression system.

It's not a bad game, but it didn't captivate me. I'd say the main problem is the visual style. It's literally B4B but with cars.

Oh btw i like John Carpenter he is genius director, but idk what did he do in this game?

Radically changing the technical accessibility of a product that people already own is unacceptable and should be illegal. Secure Boot will not protect against hackers, this has already been proven.
In essence, people are forced to "voluntarily" enable a feature that gives corporations even more control over users computer.

Don't believe the trailers, the game is not fun, slow and very boring.

The main feature of the game is total destruction. Unfortunately, the game does not give you weapons for this destruction.
You start the game with random useless weapons that can do nothing. And you have to wander through a randomly generated maze in search of random weapons and upgrades. Whether you find something interesting or not is pure chance.

This in itself is a waste of time. But on top of that, enemies kill you very fast with a couple of hits, and there is practically no way to restore health. Very often you die just because of bad luck.

There is no progression in the game, you can't choose a weapon, create a build. The only thing you can do is spawn, wander through the maze in search of useless upgrades, die and repeat again.

This simple game is artificially made too difficult to extend the playthru time.

In fact, this is a tech demo. The developers simply couldn't invent interesting game for their 2D engine with total destruction. So they left everything to random generation and pointless difficulty.

I know there are mods that improve something and make the game easier, but this is a review of the game, not mods.

Very interesting game concept, I like the idea. The atmosphere of the Alien movies, the aesthetics of CRT monitors, the stylish interface - it's great.

The problem is in the gameplay. In fact, this is a very simple RTS with the most inconvenient controls you can imagine. The whole difficulty of the game is in the very inconvenient controls.

You can't just quickly select the unit you need, you can't quickly give the right order. You need to make units do specific things (otherwise they will quickly die), but it's just hard to make them do it.

It gets boring quickly.

And there is no story or characters for which you want to continue to endure inconvenient annoying gameplay. In fact, we don't even know what the monsters look like, we see them exclusively as a red dot on the radar.

Early Access Review
I like the concept of this game. I really like Bloodshed so I buy this game as soon as it came out. I am the target audience for this game.

I didn't like this game.

The game has a decent weapon impact. That's where the positives end.

The game is made in the style medieval shooter, like the Doom TDE, Witchfire, Painkiller well you get it. I don't like it.
There are no real guns, the guns are just dont look cool, I don't like the guns visually.

In terms of style, the game tries to copy new Doom, but it looks much much worse. So the game has no own style and looks worse than the original it imitates.

HELLBREAK currently has 2 tiny, symmetrical arenas. They are grim, unremarkable and get boring quickly.

AWFUL performance. The entire game takes place on a tiny arena with not that many enemies. At the same time, the game is very demanding on hardware.

Visually, the game does not look beautiful, it looks bland, it looks worse than games from 10 years ago, but it works much worse! The worst thing you can expect from an Unreal Engine, enjoy the game with DLSS.

Unfortunately, I do not recommend this game. There are plenty of other boomer shooters that are better now.

This game is a little masterpiece.

The game is very simple - you need to survive in the arenas for a certain amount of time.
By killing enemies you level up and become stronger, get new weapons and abilities, over time there are more enemies, you make more kills ... well, you get the idea. The game is very addictive.

This game is about pure gameplay. No story, cutscenes or stealth. Just an arena, a shotgun and a bunch of enemies.
Here you don't need to wander in confusing maze-like maps looking for a red button from a blue door.
You explore the map only to find the most effective places to fight monsters.

The game is not too difficult and not too easy, just optimal.
Perfect game for listening some podcasts in background.

The game is very beautiful and has style.
In general, this is a combination of Vampire Survival, Doom, Blood, Hexen and Resident Evil 4.

Only serious problem of the game is that it is too short. All arenas can be completed in a couple of hours. After that you can stay in game to replay arenas to unlock new weapons, spells, buy upgrades and characters.

Another problem is sometimes poor performance, but in my case its not critical. And you need to search for hidden collectables to open additional levels, for such a short game this is unacceptable.

I highly recommend it if you are a fan of boomer shooters.

Technically its a competently made boomer shooter. But it is so ugly.
It is probably the ugliest boomer shooter I have ever played. Wolfenstein 3D (1992) look better than this. There is no style, no aesthetics, just a dissonance of pictures and colors.

The game is ruined by cheaters. (I played hundreds of hours on another launcher)

The main and best game mode Galactic Assault is almost unplayable because of cheaters.

The whole game is built around the Galactic Assault mode, it has like 90% of the game's content.
A lot of content is unique and not available in other game modes. And Galactic Assault suffers the most from cheaters and is almost unplayable.

It's not even about aimbots and wallhackers.

Cheaters simply break the server, disable control for all players, teleport all players to one point and blow them up. This has been going on for years, which is why the game has such a low online. Of course, sometimes you can get lucky and play when everything works fine.

The worst thing is that you can't play Galactic Assault offline with bots (like in the classic games).
The problem would not be so big if you could just play Galactic Assault offline or create your own community servers with admins.

The game itself is great, one of the best Star Wars games ever made.

The only option to play normally today is 4 players co-op mode. But it has smaller maps, has no cutscenes, doesn't have all the vehicles so can't replace Galactic Assault.

The single player campaign is garbage.

Good shooter and interesting fast movement mechanics, cool design, cyberpunk aesthetics. The game has its own identity. I really liked everything, I will definitely play the full version.

However, the demo has technical problems. Terrible mouse control, forced mouse acceleration and kind of motion blur.

P.S.: Small flying drones enemies should be banned in shooters by international law.
