Sorry, this went on way longer than I thought: TLDR way at the bottom. This review is only for Warfare.

Looking through a majority of the negative reviews- it's honestly sad to see a false representation of the game at the "Mixed" rating. Most of the negative reviews complain about "kernel-level anti-cheat" (no different than Fortnite/Valorant), and how the game is "all the worst qualities of BF2042" which is misleading to the overall score. Yes, that really is the majority, and this doesn't reflect how the game actually games. Just pointless negative reviews that offer nothing to the community except for pushing a pointless agenda.

The negative reviews are lacking any details of the gameplay itself. I'll provide you with what I think about the game currently and how I perceived it in the Alpha.

After the release of BF2042 there was an emptiness while playing the game. The first few matches were seriously enjoyable (as it goes with most games). There were things that I noticed that just didn't make any sense and weren't a priority obviously. The map, scoreboard, and controls all stood out the most. The map and scoreboard were riddled with bugs and broken features (on launch day)- that isn't acceptable. Controls couldn't detect specific keys for input in some movements either. EA has been making BF games for how long? It's had a very similar and consistent vibe to it throughout. Why is this an issue and why did it take months to resolve?

Current day: We have Delta Force: Hawk Ops -- This game is essentially a "copy & paste" of the BF franchise, but with their own twist to it. When bugs were reported in early Alpha, the team actively responded and resolved the issue within a week (a majority of the time). They understand what the mass user base is.

- We want a game where you can't pay to get ahead.
- We need level playing fields.
- Any gun used should be fairly optimized. (no weapons are "useless")
- The gameplay should be responsive and tactile. No smoothing effects. It's and FPS.
- We want maps that are interactive and not filled with empty space.
- We want complex details, cracks, and corners that are able to be shot through.
- We want a development team that works for their community and not investors.

All this taken into consideration- I'll work on a few points here:

Yes, there are micro-transactions, all cosmetic, (very mobile-based) that aren't brutal prices. It's f2p, they need to make a living, it's NOT p2w (pay-to-win). I'll clarify: There are skins that will unlock a specific gun that's obtained at later levels. First thought is, "How tf is that fair?" -- Well, the gun is unlocked, but can't be levelled beyond the stock components until your character meets the base requirements. You can get a skin and unlock the weapon early, but it WILL NOT level further until you reach the minimum requirements to unlock it. There's not much of a grind to go through. Progression is relatively quick as well which is a nice addition. You can focus on the game more than just the achievements. These achievements are geared towards overall personal development as a player and learning new skills.

The developers are actively engaging with the community to adjust the weapons, maps, points, etc. We see changes occur rapidly, but very rarely in any negative capacity.

Back to the first point "What about getting the later gun for .99c?" -- There approach is arguably acceptable and fair. Just because someone has a later weapon, doesn't make them better. Be real for a moment. It would be one thing to lock the entire class of shotguns until rank 20, but then allow people to pay to unlock them early. We have access to all classes from the start. Who cares if someone gets a later weapon that will only be stock until they reach X Rank? It's not a hidden class of weapon nor a spartan laser. It's just another AR/Sniper/SMG/etc.- that one-on-one would 100% be a fair fight left up to the skill of the user.

Gameplay is responsive, tactile, and precise. It's phenomenal how familiar the gameplay is. Graphics are decent and that's what matters. It's optimized well for my system and even for mobile. Specs are at a 5800X3D and a 3090, but we have a friend with a 3700X and a 1080 that plays just fine as well. When you're realistically looking to play these games, performance is above the visuals. The visuals are great considering what the game is, and the performance has been great for me personally. Remember though- it's a Beta. It's early stage development.

The maps are fun. The cracks and crevices aren't masked with an invisible wall. We can shoot through any small points as expected. This is where most FPS games fail to deliver to keep it "fair" in a poor sense. It's not fun. It's not creative. The small cracks and crevices allow for teams to detect an issue enemy, observe their location, and execute an action to remove that threat. Then we all learn to watch out for that particular area. It's an exciting part of the game that makes the "peeping attacker" happy for being unseen, and while originally aggravating for the victim, it forces them to adapt and do better.

Final few points here. The developers are working for the community. They're not asking for much in return (sure, go ahead and say information. It's all out there anyways. We've had the most gut-wrenching compromises to personal data over the last 2 years globally. What little they'll be picking up from this game is realistically no different than what's already out there to begin with. Boohoo, make a fake name and email like you should already have if you're concerned.
Most important thing is that they listen and actively engage with the community to change things according to what the community wants. It works. We're satisfied. It's getting better (not like it was bad to begin with).

If you made it this far, you must've been irked wrong by the "Mixed" reviews as well. Alpha was great, Technical Test was great, and this beta is just as good as it was earlier. It's exactly what was needed after the poor response from the Battlefield devs and poor handling afterwards. EA is walking it back and taking back to their roots. I'm excited to see what the next one will be, but 2042 was not it. This game fills that emptiness with excitement. Honestly, if you don't like this game, please take the time to engage with the community a bit and maybe join a team on their Discord. It really has been a blast for the last day of the release.

TLDR: Sorry if you broke your mouse wheel getting down here, but here's the most compressed list of what I went over:

- Microtransactions: cosmetic, unlock guns for that skin bought (but gun will not level until your character is the minimum rank to unlock it). Does not provide any advantage. It isn't too much of a grind either. Rewards are relatively quick to achieve.

- Devs listen and are active with community. Changes happen quick.

- Game is concise, snappy, and optimal. Maps are filled great. Can shoot through the smallest of cracks and crevices.

- Community is awesome and the way the game handles is excellent. Even at F2P with a campaign coming later.

EDIT: Mention of hackers on here is false claims. My group and I haven't noticed a single one in the 10+ games played thus far. Could be in the other mode, but Warfare has been clean and fair the entire time we've played from the early Alpha.

- I'll conclude with: I've only been playing Warfare as I have no interest for the other game mode at this time.

Game slaps. Easy to start and follow. Not over-complicated. Dev is very active and open with the community. Has been an awesome experience so far.

Absolute blast. I appreciate Sony stepping back on their latest actions, and it seems they’re beginning to understand the concerns in their security.

Aside from all that, it’s simply a fun and spectacular game. It can be easy to get burned out, but in moderation it leaves you wanting more every day.

The idea of this game is brilliant. Fairly balanced for what it is currently. I enjoy seeing the planned features on the main island- that's an awesome idea as well.

If the developers are up to it... It would be very nice to see a roadmap on the main island as well. Just to give players specific dates to look forward to.

I'm 14 hours in and still haven't used every weapon at a steady pace. It's definitely a joyful game.

You would have to spend about 150hrs to gain about 4-8 ranks. People have lives outside of this.... Ruins the entire game if you're wasting your time into stressing about getting enough XP every single match for armor.

Fun to play with friends, but at no reward...

Updated Edit: Still not that great. Game play is fun. Unlocks for cosmetics sucks, killing any real feeling of progression. The layout for multiplayer game modes is awful, hiding the primary game modes behind other sections without allowing you to search or target a specific mode.

I am an original Alpha player and received my key through Picroma.

I've played long enough to leave a proper review at this point. I am a level 10 mage and frequently played with friends. The monsters scaled to a higher difficulty when all of us targeted them. If I were to type everything I wanted to, there would be a story here and that's not what I'm aiming for. I'll just leave a list below.

Currently your level only means you have x many artifacts under your belt.
- I feel that if you gain a level, you should receive a stat buff (not just speed/stamina improvements). Higher damage, health, defense, etc. would be nice. I wouldn't like to see this kind of thing region locked to just armor/weapons. This also shows a permanent (useful) progression in the game.

A larger variety of quests, but I understand that's a work-in-progress.

Maybe a Legendary mission to reveal "+" crafting possibilities would be nice to have some sort of sustain from region to region (throughout the Kingdom).

Hang Glider and other Special Items should maybe be Kingdom-locked instead with all of them spread across the Kingdom. It's bothersome knowing there's a chance of not being able to ride my pet at all through a region because the Reins simply isn't there.

These are just quick and immediate thoughts that I've gathered (Things that got my attention immediately in the game). I'm in a rush to go somewhere right now, but would like to update this with more data possibly tonight. It's worth noting that it is dramatically different from the Alpha, but personally I'm still finding a way to enjoy this.

I feel like the key focus at this current state of the game is to understand it, and the region-locking system does not seem difficult once you get the hang of it. I still can't wait to get home and play more of this. It may just be a personal preference (absolutely not the majority), but it's also a different approach to progression that I'm willing to try out for a while. It's what currently makes this game unique in its current state.

I am very open to checking out comments if anyone has any questions for the time being.

This is free online and potentially a scam? It's literally no different than any other online .io game and the versions available online are way better... I just don't understand it.
