Phenomenal horror game!
Filled with massive amounts of lore and world building, intriguing characters with their own distinct personality, dark and pleasant art style, challenging but fair combat.
If you're looking for a different kind of horror game that stands out from the rest, look no further!

Lore Review
I'll be glossing over the game's lore and storytelling, rather than the gameplay itself. Continue reading if you're interested in the lore of the game instead of the gameplay. (No Spoilers)

Summary
Dishonored takes interesting twists and turns to immerse gamers into a warped world filled with supernatural elements, religious zealots, and a corrupted government. Beware of the unknown.

Lore Background
The game takes place in a late-19th/early-20th century London based city known as Dunwall; Dunwall has recently fallen into hard times, organized crime is on the rise, forbidden magic is rampant, as well as a contagious plague spreads throughout the city. To battle this, Dunwall uses unique contraptions to help fortify the rich and powerful, such as electric-based sentries, a wall of light that vaporize those who cross through it, and many other oddities all while using the abundant fuel known as whale oil.
Dunwall's plague problem is better known as the infectious 'rat plague' that spreads around the city; Turning ordinary people into walking disease-ridden zombies known as 'Weepers and attack anyone else.. The problem has gotten severe to the point where the government has shutdown most building located in the lower class districts to try to contain the plague, but that only leaves most poeple homeless, as well as desperate for survival.

The use of forbidden magic has gotten prevalent, to the point where the anti-magic group known as 'Abbey of the Everyman' combat those who practice it, executing those they deem heretics. Abbey of the Everyman's main objectives are to ban the use of witchcraft, and they enforce using all means necessary, even by teaching others an example such as witch burning. Their main enemy would be those who follow the ways of 'The Void'.
The Void is an unknown dimension where time is infinite, and the environment is influenced by the characters mind and state; The Voids creation is by a man known as 'The Outsider'. The Outsider is a god-like, supernatural being who is neither good nor evil and can give people his mark, those who have been branded by his mark will have supernatural power to aid them in their quest, whatever may it be. However, The Outsider will always watch over them and will comment on some of their actions and their impact on the world itself.

Main Story/Premise
The story follows a man known as 'Corvo Attano' personal bodyguard of the empress 'Jessamine Kaldwin', heir to the throne of the Kaldwin family dating back centuries of their ruling of power in Dunwall.
Corvo has recently returned from a long voyage, trying to find allies to help out Dunwall with their Rat Plague problem; unfortunately Corvo could not find a single ally to aid them in their time of crisis. When Corvo arrives and meets with Emily Kaldwin, daughter of Jessamine Kaldwin, Corvo then proceeds to deliver the letter to Jessamine, the letter details the failure to find any allies for their rat plague problem, the empress is in distraught. But not so long after, Jessamine, Emily and Corvo are attacked by supernatural assassins; Corvo successfully drives them off, but then the leader of the assassins comes in and traps Corvo, isolating him from Jessamine and her daughter. The leader attempts to take away Emily, but is stopped by Jessamine. He then hits Jessamine and immediately pierces her with his sword, effectively killing her.
The leader then takes away Emily and the rest of the assassins dissapear, Corvo is then freed and immediately rushes over to Jessamine; With her dying last breath, she tells Corvo to find Emily and to make sure she is safe from danger. The palaces bodyguards soon arrive afterwards and immediately put the blame on Corvo for the assassination of Jessamine and the dissapearance of Emily, he is then convicted and put into prison and sentenced for execution, but fate had other plans for Corvo.

Story Themes

The game has multiple story themes that coincide with the lore of the game.

Character Absolution: The game follows Corvo as he ventures down a path filled with corruption, supernatural oddities, and a relentless plague that ravages half the city, he goes through all of this to not only save Emily but to also expose the man that had set him up. He does this so he can no longer be convicted as the man that had killed the one he was sworn to protect.

Rebellious Uprising: The game features a rebellion group known as 'The Loyalists'. the Loyalists help out Corvo to take down key members associated with the newly established regime. The Loyalists purpose is to take down the regime and put Emily on the throne and continue the Kaldwin tradition. Each character in The Loyalists have their own reason for joining, but all want the same goal in the end. Each person will help out in some way to aid Corvo in his journey.

Decisions, Decisions...
How the story wraps up depends entirely on how you play. If you go in murdering everyone that stand in your way, you'll increse the 'chaos' meter. The chaos system is balanced on whether you kill everyone or go non-lethal when approaching certain objectives. In every mission, you have to kill atleast one target so you can weaken the regime; However, in every mission you can also take out the target in a non-lethal matter, usually by removing them of power in some way. This can come to a difficult morale situation for you, is it better to kill the target, or put them into something debatably worse? Its all up to you.

The Little Details
Throughout the game, you will have to deal with the chaos meter. The chaos meter is balanced between handling people lethal or non-lethal. Go too high on the Chaos meter, and you'll start to see more darker outcomes in different areas. For example: you'll start seeing more Weepers in areas that they weren't present in, or more aggressive and darker scenarios will occur to different people. Killing certain people will also make certain cialogue different.
This is all due to the powers given to you by The Outsider how you'll use the powers will again affect the world around and ultimately shape the future.

You will also be able to read books detailing the history of Dunwall, Abbey of the Everyman, and even the mysteries of The Void. This can give the player a better understanding of the world and why things are the way they are; Even abandoned areas will contain letters and notes left by someone, detailing their experiences and struggles with the plague and the regime, and how it ends for them is interpretable.

Overall Analysis
Dishonored has one of the most interesting game worlds to explore, the lore that setups up The Void and the mystery behind it, the great atmosphere truly gives Dunwall this dreaded and dark feeling to it, and everything else in regards to the characters and the world design makes it one of the best games with the best lore to it. Whether you go through the game killing everyone, sparing everyone, or a mix of both; the world will adapt to everything you do.
Dishonored is a great recommendation if you're interested in unique lore built around a bizarre world filled with supernatural beings, corrupted individuals, and shady underworld characters.

Side Notes
- Dishonored and its lore is expanded upon further in its sequel, Dishonored 2; as well as its book spinoffs Dishonored - The Wyrmwood Deceit, Dishonored - The Corroded Man
- Knife of Dunwall and The Brigmore Witches DLC adds a different perspective to the main story, highly recommend getting those two if you're interested in more.

Summary
Based on Andrzej Sapkowski's books of the same name, The Witcher immerses gamers into a unique world filled with racial tensions, and political turmoil. The game is dated, but the lore holds up well.

Lore Background
The game takes place within a fantasy universe filled with multiple races, various lands, and an abundance of disorder within the world. One unique race to this world are known as Witchers. Witchers were once human but after going through various painful experiments and trials, they end up going through a mutation process that makes them the ultimate monster killers. Witchers one and only purpose is to exterminate any evil monster threat and collect their payment, but when the understanding of good and evil changes, as well as people who you were payed to protect are hiding dark secrets; One witcher is relied upon to make the ultimate choice between "good" and "evil".

Main Story/Premise
The game follows Geralt of Rivia, a legendary witcher who has fallen under a bad case of amnesia. The story begins with Geralt wandering through the woods of Kaer Morhen, stumbling and struggling with the voices of his greatest nightmare, The Wild Hunt. After being discovered by his friends, Geralt recovers but has no recollection of who he is or where he was before.
Afterwards Kaer Morhen was raided by a secret organisation simply known as 'The Salamandra' who were out for one thing only, the secrets and ingredients of the witcher mutations. After the raid, Geralt ventures off to find the Salamandra and discover what their purpose was, as well as avenging a certain someone that had died during the raid and hopefully, recover and face his past.

Story Themes
The game has multiple story themes that coincide with the lore of the game.

Racial Tension: The game portrays multiple races such as Halflings, Elves, Humans, etc. And like with many fanstasy stories, each don't get along with the other; Due to this, the story has a rebellious elven group known as the Scoia'tael which the character can either help or ignore. Certain quest endings and dialogue revolve around on whether you help them or ignore them.

Political Turmoil: The story takes place within the free land of Temeria and mostly within Vizima (The capital of Temeria), Vizima has its own fair share of problems and depending on who you side with, you end up shaping the future of Vizima and how people will view you. You must decide to either be associated with the Scoia'tael (A rebellious non-human group), Order of the Flaming Rose (A knights guild), or be neutral. But either way, each path you choose has its own repercussions.

Decisions, Decisions...
The main story's conclusion revolves around the decisions you make throughout the main quest; Aside from the main story, almost every side quest has an alternate ending or various ways to get through the quest. Some side quest endings have an 'interpretable' ending, meaning its not directly good or bad and can often leave you question on whether the choice you made was for the best.

The Little Details
Throughout the game you will be offered tasks in elimating various monster threats, each with their own weakness and strengths. You can read books about that specific group of monsters, the books themselves detail the build, weakness, strengths, and where they originate from. Not only that, the inclusion of books detailing important events that had transpired in the past that were prevalent in the books; Giving the player more invested within the world.

Overall Analysis
The Witcher may not aged as well in terms of gameplay, but storywise it excels even to this day. Many choices you make can ultimately affect everything else in the main story, and can often leave you wanting more and leaves high replayability for different outcomes. CD Project Red has done a great job converting the world that was built within the series of books and translated it wonderfully in the first game, as well as expanding upon the lore of the witcher universe with their own unique ideas and keeping it faithful to the books.
The Witcher easily gets a recommended in terms of well detailed intriguing lore to keep the players interested to the very end, depending on the player of course.

Side Notes
- Despite the fact that this game is a continuation from the series of books, this game can still be enjoyed fully without feeling clueless.
- After the game ends, the players can continue their save data in The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings with their gear and choices being transferred over.

While Black ops 3 in itself isn't groundbreaking, however, if you were like me and got the game solely for the Zombies mode, then I'd say you'll get your monies worth.
  • Splitscreen Zombies
  • Massive replayablility
  • Mod support Via workshop (Both multiplayer and Zombies are supported)
I also suggest checking out the Campaign at some point with some friends Via Coop. while the Campaign makes little to no references to previous Black ops Entries, it does have an interesting and rather bizarre campaign that is very different from the previous entries. The story is definitely not for everyone however.

Multiplayer in itself is more of the same from previous entries and isn't really worth mentioning, they did however add special characters each with their own special ability that can give you a great advantage over the enemies, but other than that, nothing was really changed to the formula.

Overall I'd say get it for the Zombies and stick to the zombies and maybe some Multiplayer matches with some friends, but I'd say pick it up around a 50% or more sale.
