Early Access Review
let start by saying this game isn't bad or un-playable, i have put by far enough hours into the game to get my moneys worth out of it.

First the
POSITIVES
:
Unique: This game is fairly unique, yes there may be new takes on this genre, such as Beasts of bermuda and saurian the Isle was the first one to release into this Niche genre thats now been created, it really was a fairly revolutionary game when released in 2015, it showed lots of potential that sadly has ended up not going anywhere very fast, but more on that later.

Gameplay: The Gameplay while fairly simplistic and easy to understand lends itself very well to this genre of game, when you are controlling one of the games Dinos you really do feel a sense of power or speed, depending on your chosen dino, all Dinos can sniff for scents of either corpses and water if you are a carnivore or water and plants if you're a herbivore, Both catagories of Dino's can smell foot prints of other dinosaures who recently
as the game evolves they will add more systems such as fishing and corpse carrying that will further increase the games already fun gameplay style.

Audio: While audio might not be the best i have ever heard (Battlefield still takes the cake for me) it does play a huge part in this game, you use audio to hunt other players and use it to hunt Ai dinos which can spawn in as a food source for carnivores.
Each Dinosaur has 4 distinct calls which are easily distinguishable with enough playtime, this allows you to hide/run from whatever dino might be heading your way.

Dinos: There are loads of Dinos and more are planned, with concept art being released every few weeks for new Dino / existing Dinos, there are 2 main game modes, those are survival and sandbox, sandbox as it sounds is a mode designed for testing/ getting used to dinos and generally messing around, there are more Dinos in sandbox than there are in survival, in Sandbox there are 26 Dinos of both Herbivore and Carnivore varieties. while in Survival there are only currently 15 playable Dinos which is almost Half the amount available in sandbox but more on this in the below section.

Now onto the
NEGATIVES
(There are quite a few so bare with me):

Dinos: Now i bet your thinking, hey Spruce, you put "Dinos" in the Positives section, are you confused or is this a meme review? well let me explain, this negative point is specifically aimed at the survival mode, Dinos in sandbox mode are either too weak or too strong, the game doesn't have any real balance currently, while this is ebing worked on with every patch it is still currently an issue so i will talk about it as it is at the moment.

Dinos like the Rex are a ridiculous powerhouse of Bite force and HP, this makes them almost un-killable without the use of another Apex Dino or a very large very skilled pack of Allos/ Dilos to Bite and bleed the Dino to death.

Dinos like the Sucho on the other hand are in really tough spots, the Sucho is a fishing Dino that currently can't fish (No AI fish implemented yet), this means it needs to hunt on land for AI/ players to eat, this is hard for the Dino as it is really slow due to it being designed to swim not run, this makes it fairly easy prey for any land carnivore until it gets to about 85% adult (Which can take 3+ hours of constant playing). I bet you are thinking you will be fine once you reach a large lake that you can swim around in, well sorry to say thats not the case, the Giga( Another Apex Dino) can currently swim faster than the Sucho, this makes the Sucho fairly easy food for a giga even in water, this makes the Sucho currently a really weak Dino in the current "Meta".

Release Schedule: This section is going to focus on the update speed and quality of the game, if you are only interested in the gameplay review then please skip this section.

At current this game gets a big Update every 4-5 months if you are lucky, this is un-acceptable even for an indie/ Small development team, i have worked on several small games (Unity based, so please feel free to tell me it doesn't count) and i released updates / patches for them on a Fortnightly basis while working a 9-5 Job, there is no reason it should take them this long to release updates especially for a game so early in development.

The last update currently was on the 11th of April, this was a very small update that didn't change the game in any meaningful way like many of the updates, the last post by the developers was on the 1st of june, this update was again another Teaser image that will likely end up going no-where.

Constant Teasing of new features: This section may seem like a personal Nitpick of min and maybe it is but im still gonna type it out for this review.

On the official Isle Reddit they frequently release concept arts for new Dinos and gameplay mechanics, this may sound like a positive, it would be.... if the teased concept art ever got released, yes concept art is great, it gives us a heads up of upcoming features or skins/ models, Humans for example were teased 2-3 Years ago by various youtubers on the inside, the Human faction is still not released 3 years on, same story with the Flying Dinos, those were teased 2 years ago and are still not released not even on the PTB.

If they ever released their teased concept art (Besides a few model changes) then this would be a huge positive.

SUMMARY (Finally :} )
: In general this game is worth a purchase if you are HEAVILY into Dinosaurs but in its current state and the state it is likely to be in for a while judging by update schedule i just cannot recommend this game for anyone except the most Die hard.

Please feel free to reply to my review in the comments, im always open to discussing peoples thoughts on this game but please keep it civil, if i see any comments like "U noob kid" or "You suck big Wong" i'm gonna remove them as it doesn't add anything constructive to the discussion.

Do you love rubber banding and long loading times? then this game is for you.

In all seriousness this game is barely playable, you cant spawn in port towns as the lag stops you from leaving, you cant spawn in the artic regions as it spawns you in the ocean so you slowly die from "wetness".

This game was delayed several times and it plays like a pre-alpha, it is an ARK DLC that they are selling for 25 USD ( after sale), dont support these money hungry developers.
