Best described as a highly interactive walking simulator, Amerzone plays out much like those other turn-of-the-century CD-ROM games like Myst and Riven where you click on destination nodes and the game auto-walks you to the next location where you can scan your surrounding and interact with anything that needs to be interacted with. You’ll collect various puzzle items and log a library’s worth of journals, books, notes, etc., all the while solving some very clever puzzles along the way. There is a very enjoyable feeling of a Jules Verne adventure with fun inventions and an almost steampunk vibe to some of the gadgets.

Anyone who loves adventure games will certainly want to sign on for this epic quest. They don’t make them like this anymore, but thankfully, Microids still knows how to remake them, and this is easily one of the best remakes/remasters I’ve played this year.
