Whilst some of the minigames leave a lot to be desired, this game succeeds in capturing the aesthetic of Victorian London, and also features the best "detective" system I've ever experienced in a game. I love the "deduction space" mechanic!

I think it manages to overcome almost all of the shortcomings of the original, whilst still retaining the fun RP capacities that drew me to its predecessor. The addition of Multiclassing is especially cool. I do wish the dungeons wer bigger though, I miss the Endless Paths.

Really, this game is only fun if you enjoy spending more than half of the time playing it in pause mode, micromanaging the different ship types. The hull-vulnerability mechanic dominates the gameplay so much athat it really is the only aspect of your ships which matters, and on skirmish (as well as most of campaign) the game is not truly 3D. That said, the campaign mode is genuinley challenging. What really spoils it for me however, is the claim that there would be a big mystery to solve and a gripping story. The story was mostly flat, and the characters were not compelling. Ultimatley, campaign mode will leave you feeling like a right clever-clogs upon every little sucess, but i doubt you will have much fun.
