Didn't personally like this game. The story is well written, but I found the premise lacking and the gameplay dull.

If you haven't beaten the guy in the cabin, you are not even 1/4 of the way through the game.

I want to like this game, I really do. But it's got a couple of little QoL changes that need to be made before I consider recommending it to anyone. First, explosives should show their effect radius. I have lost a ton of runs for no reason other than I was a few pixels off in my characters position. Secondly, a player should never get stuck on terrain. If the player inputs a direction and runs into something blocking their path, they should slide around it. Slower than had they not impacted it, but the player should never die because they stopped moving when they were inputting movement. This isn't the NES, we have proper collision detection these days.

Tabletop simulator is not technically a game in and of itself. It is a sandbox in which the community has ported almost every tabletop/card game/board game in the world.

I bought this game because every review I'd seen said that if I liked Bethesda RPG's I'd like this game. Bought it off Kinguin, and I'm kinda regretting the $26 I spent. If you like the actual gameplay of games like Skyrim, Oblivion, or Fallout 3, go ahead and skip this game. If you prefer less gameplay and (A LOT) more dialoge, you'll probably enjoy it more than I did.

As far as ranking this with similar Bethesda/Obsidian games I've played:
Skyrim > Oblivion > Fallout 3 > Morrowind > Fallout 4 > The Outer worlds > Fallout: New Vegas

Edit: I may have judged this game a little hastily at first. The game is good, however I really dislike the starting area for multiple reasons, which I will get into in a minute. I am still going to leave my recommendation as a no, as this game is NOT worth $40. On a good day, I'd pay $25-ish, but not $30+. There are quite a few smaller glitches that need to be patched out before this game is worth more than the $20 range, mostly with NPC animations in my experience, although I have managed to get out of bounds more than once.

Now, the reason I dislike the starting area of this game is it doesn't give you all the information you need to make an educated choice for the first impactful decision in the game, and as a result playing as a completionist is harder than it needs to be. You have to choose to send power to either the Hippie Gardens or Edgewater. Regardless of which you choose, if you haven't finished all of the side quests for the opposite faction, you WILL get an auto fail when you make the decision. The first time I played the game, I sent power to the Hippie Gardens, and lost all progress with my quests from Edgewater. Not to mention it causes all NPC's in Edgewater to attack you on sight. I did not expect this level of hostility from what I viewed as the correct decision, and due to my not saving properly, I had to completely restart my game. As it turns out, if you send power to Edgewater, you can make the leader of Edgewater step down (or kill him) and have the Hippie leader take over. There was no indication that this would even be an option. No hints, no foreshadowing, I honestly didn't know about this until a friend told me about it. In my mind, that's bad game design. I now only play this game with a choice map open(found here: htt p://www.gamershe roes.co m/game-guides/the-outer-worlds-choices-and-consequences-guide/) so I can be sure to make the right choices, and so I can see the far reaching consequences of my actions. Gameplay is fun if a bit glitchy, I like the TTD system and gun slinging. Combat is great. The biggest issues I have are mainly with how the devs positioned choice in this game. I definitely prefer Bethesda's methodology of choice, in that there is nothing to worry about as your decisions are gameplay based instead of story based. As I said before, I am a completionist, and I aim to finish every quest line in a single run through.

If you are a fan of rogue-lites and bullethells, this game marries the concepts perfectly.
