The game is amazing the publisher is not. Sony trying to force us into linking our accounts after purchasing the game is a hard no from me.

One of the best management simulation games I've found. The only DLC you absolutely need is Hospital Services

+ complex & polished simulation
+ complex management
+ massive library of placeable objects (on the scale of 'The Sims')
+ prefab rooms to help you learn
+ steep and long learning curve (high replay-ability and value for money)
+ well coded

- UI is off putting and kinda clunky at the start
- Win10 crash to desktop (kinda frequent on this particular patch)
- Building mode is decent but definitely has some major drawbacks

Under the hood it's well coded and lightweight, you can tell the developers have spent considerable time ensuring you can build big before it bogs down. Has variety, you can build, manage, or be the actual doctor and diagnose patients.

Update:

Don't buy the game. I drank the juice at EA launch and it was a ton of fun. I got my 30 dollars worth in the month after release. With Patch 9 and full launch the dev's have stated they will no longer develop the game. It's current state is a buggy mess with no populated servers, a direct result of their decision to rush EA and ignore the critical feedback that resulted.

It had so much potential and I won't take back my initial thoughts below. Move on to a different game!

-----Original Review 1 Week After EA Release-------

Former WoW devs are at the core of this game and it really shines through with all those elements that made you fall in love with Wow back in '04-'06. One of the best launch days I have ever been apart of with the only down time being a 15min restart to fix a minor queue bug. Absolutely worth $30 dollars.

It's EA so of course you'll have to deal with some bugs and optimization issues but the core of the game is beyond excellent and you can tell the AAA devs are just warming up with this after playing a good 10 hours. You'll hear reports about salty individuals and reviews if you're doing your research. These guys are for the most part either immature or short sighted and their behaviour in game reflects that. Almost everyone is playing the game the way it was intended and the community / teamwork is so refreshing for a survival game

Updated Review:

Unfortunately like many others I also have to give this game a negative review. The Development team in the last 6 months has begun reworking this game into another Battlefield/COD variant to boost sales. The first hundred hours will be fun if you decide to buy it. After you've familiarized yourself with the mechanics you'll ask yourself questions and become frustrated with the game and the devs.

This game at it's core requires a certain level of realism. Squad Leaders make or break your round and your experience in the game (Usually 3-4 on each side in a 40v40 match). Being a good leader requires many hours of practice and experience. The veteran players are starting to walk away from the game as the Dev team has stated they are taking more steps to casualize the experience and make this game more aligned with Battlefield/COD

Mechanics used to reward tactical thinking and the respawn system used to reward good game play. Players used to work in unison with teamwork and communication. Everyone in your squad used to play the game with a mic.

The core game has very strong realism elements with these recent quirky arcade changes layered on top. Some vehicles are terribly hard to drive and can't climb slopes you would expect them too. Players can be continuously revived meaning it's a game of whack a mole. Anyone can revive another player. Suppression systems are terrible and clunky. Hit reg is still a problem. Certain vehicle weapons have desync issues. New maps have terrible layouts. Destroying habs used to require coordinated effort, now an engineer can ninja destroy them with C4. Habs used to be critical spawn locations and now squad leaders can 'buddy rally' off others, essentially allowing you to teleport across the map. Headshots and death by large caliber weapons or explosives does not instantly kill you.

All of this has been vehemently objected to on the forums and on reddit by the long standing community and veteran players. OWI has acknowledged our complaints and stated they will not revert some of the changes to the fundamental mechanics: buddy rallies and death mechanics in particular.

Honestly even on sale your money is better spent playing Battlefield, Insurgency, or Rising Storm. At least those games are not confused about what they are or want to be.
