It's got some great potential buuuut... combat is a bit janky and awkward, the NPC's need a total rewrite/record as they say the same 5 lines regardless of who they are and semi in context - but not really. I assume they are AI generated voices as I'm yet to meet anyone with as robotic sounding voices in real life. Quests get a bit samey. Just hope it gets some attention still, although it looks like the devs are on it quite often so really nice to see.

In the shadowy and unpredictable world of Pacific Drive, players find themselves on the edge of their seats, steering through a narrative as twisted and intriguing as the roads they navigate. Seth Rosen and his compact team of 20 have ingeniously crafted a game that not only pushes the boundaries of conventional gaming but also entrenches players in a deeply satisfying survival experience. Emerging battered yet unmistakably triumphant from each drive, the game instils a profound sense of achievement.

Pacific Drive is a curious blend of familiar influences and unique gameplay, evoking elements of Stranger Things, Rust, Silent Hill, and Back to the Future, yet it stands apart in its distinctiveness. The developers have boldly embraced the game's idiosyncrasies, particularly the save system, which integrates seamlessly into the game's risk-reward dynamic. This feature, rather than being a point of contention, enhances the realism and intensity of the gameplay, encouraging players to strategically pause and plan their next moves in a manner not commonly afforded by similar titles.

The attention to detail in the game's mechanics is commendable. From the necessity of engaging the parking brake to the impact of environmental elements like trees on your vehicle, Pacific Drive offers a level of realism that, while not aspiring to the hyperrealism of titles like Forza Horizon 5, significantly enriches the gaming experience. However, it's not without its minor quirks. The soundtrack, although generally fitting the game's eerie and immersive atmosphere, could benefit from a broader variety to cater to diverse player preferences.

Pacific Drive's narrative depth is another of its strong suits, with anomalies and gradual introductions of new elements to the car and journey keeping players perpetually intrigued. About 47 hours into the game, the line between friend and foe remains deliciously blurred, a testament to the game's complex storytelling and world-building.

The development team's recent detailed discourse on the save mechanics exemplifies their commitment to the game and its community. This transparency and openness to feedback underscore the team's dedication, though they rightfully stand by the unique choices that set Pacific Drive apart. The game's challenge and learning curve are not just byproducts of its design but are central to the experience it aims to offer.

In conclusion, Pacific Drive is an obsession-worthy title that defies conventional categorisation, offering a unique blend of survival horror, supernatural elements, and driving simulation. It's a testament to the vision and craftsmanship of a small but incredibly talented team. For those yearning for a gaming experience that marries the thrill of survival with the intrigue of the supernatural, Pacific Drive is a journey worth embarking on. And for Ironwood Studios, should they ever seek a new addition to their team, they have an enthusiastic candidate ready to dive back into the game's enthralling world. Nothing really compares to the sense of achievement of making it back to the auto-shop in one piece. Albeit battered and bruised!

Verdict

Pacific Drive is a must-play for those who crave a unique survival experience with a heavy dose of the supernatural. It's not afraid to challenge you, and that's its greatest strength. Ironwood Studios, take note: if you're ever looking for a passionate product owner/project manager with a deep love for Pacific Drive, sign me up! Now if you'll excuse me, I've got an expedition to prepare for...

Awesome game! Would love it if they fixed the bug that happens when you power up the escape pods from the electrical supply but other than that it's kept me entertained for a good while. :)

Really AWESOME GAME!!

Like others have said, it's not just pointlessly building but also taking care of all of the animals. I've already learned a lot about the different animals that I didn't know and also quite a few I've never even heard of! Would recommend this if you want to relax and create at the same time :)

Great concept of the game so far, it does feel a little bit unpolished like no voice acting, things vanish and some typo's where my guess would be the devs are not native but otherwise, it's a nice game. Would also be great to see 4k on this :)

Well it looks like you fixed it now. My original update was saying how awful it looked and the game ended up sucking. Now it looks much better! Definitely more fun that Hearthstone or Shadowverse :)
