I'm only writing this review mostly for the story aspect because the gameplay is a different can of worms

Ah Blue Archive, how curious I was when I first saw you on the Google Play app store when it comes to the setting of school girls possessing their own firearms while living their everyday lives. I will never forget the times when Hoshino, Eimi and Karin were my first 3* Students and I already knew, Hoshino and Eimi were to become one of my all time favorites (Even further down the line, Hina as well)

Seriously, this game has a lot of heart and soul put into it that makes some people wish that they were as charming and understanding (And sometimes even...weird) as the main protagonist - Sensei. Hell, some people's lives were changed for the better because of this game and it's thanks to one of the core themes this game makes you understand, and that is the "Responsibility of an Adult" and the "Beauty of Youth"

When it comes to the story, it starts off slow (I don't understand why people think Volume 1 Chapter 1-2 was boring, I ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ love the Abydos chapter) but it builds up to a fantastic and climactic finale that it really grips and tugs at your heatstrings (I sobbed like a ♥♥♥♥♥ reading Volume F) and even after that, there's still more stories to tell. The ending of one story leads to the beginning of a new one. The world building in this game is different that what you would expect compared to some mainstream gacha games like Star Rail/Genshin/WuWa etc... You don't NEED a long-winded narrative to explain how the world was created and how it works in that system. The interaction with the students, the opposition with Gematria, the nature/property/mystery of a student's halo and even the mystics surrounding Kivotos does the whole world building for you. Everything doesn't need to be spoon fed to you right away, because what's most important to Sensei and by some extension - YOU , is to guide these students and solve their everyday life struggles, big or small so that they don't end up on the wrong path.

Despite the memes, fanservice, cliches, so on and so forth, they somehow managed to make some of these simple character tropes in these simple character designs and make them stick to you like glue, like a lot if not, ALL these characters are charming in their own unique way that it caters to all sorts of people and how could I not mention bangers after bangers of music made by wonderful artists like NOR, KARUT and the godly music director, Mitsukiyo because let's face it, some of you normies might have heard the music "Unwelcome School" far more times than any other Blue Archive music out there at some point since it became a meme machine that just screams "Mischief" and "Whacky Shenanigans"

I cannot recommend this game enough for those who want to try it out or are curious with it. Please do try it, it might just surprise you. I promise you, even if you are uncomfortable with some of the weirder stuff you've seen surrounding this game, the story is worth reading.

Early Access Review
Played this game around 2015/16. Came back to this game just to see how this PC port goes out and honestly? It's not going well. My player experience when I came back as a veteran player is horrible. It's much worse here than when I played back on the mobile game. Here's the pros and cons that I found from my perspective (Ignoring Blitz):

Pros:
- Good graphics (Unless you have a potato phone/PC)
- Fast and simple gameplay that distinguishes between DotA and LoL (3v3 Map with 3 simple abilities, 1 being the Ultimate)
- Some character's abilities felt unique unlike any other characters from DotA and LoL (eg. Vox)
- Game is more designed for touch than using mouse & keyboard
- Skins can be acquired through the blueprint cards that can be crafted and no microtransactions needed for the skins (Special Edition/Limited Skins are more exclusive through a rare resource that also can be acquired)
- No chat (As in you can't really type in your texts and will have to communicate through pings) so that toxicity is toned down (Unless they spam pings at you, luckily the mute button is there)

Cons:
- Matchmaking is a lot more cancerous and unfair because I kept matching up with trolls/afks against experienced players more or less. (Unless you're playing with friends that you've known from the past years)
- As a player in SEA, I noticed that I keep getting lag spikes in the middle of my games. (Don't know if this kind of issue happens in other regions but it felt kinda frustrating not being able to stutter step between attacks or just characters freeze upon making certain commands) Like seriously, fix the connections. This has been happening to me even before SEMC even decide to make a PC port. (No, I don't have router issues, I made sure to double check so that the connections look fine)
- Some characters felt more overpowering than the existing characters that they almost fall into obsolete with new releases.

TL;DR
I mostly enjoy playing Vox and Koshka. Their T3 (Legendary Skins) look amazing with their custom visuals. My only problem with this game is the player matchmaking and the periodic lag spikes. With the state that they're in right now, I would not recommend this game unless they make some drastic changes.

Rating: 5/10

This is the first time doing a review for a game WeirdChamp. In conclusion, as a good meme once said, "My dissapointment is immeasurable, and my day is ruined"
