Early Access Review
Very fun and satisfying, with a ton of cool weapon synergies to build your character around as you level up and upgrade your gear.

It's an objective-based horde shooter with a cute and creative setting. Each level is bespoke, and only randomly populated with enemies and objectives between missions, so you're very unlikely to be DOA when you drop into a mission, which can happen in similar games on higher difficulties.

Combat is very fluid, with player mobility being more reminiscent of an arena shooter. Weapons are appropriately punchy and easy to unlock and upgrade, and the spell system brings it from good to great.

Once you're a few levels in and unlock the weapon you like, you get a couple spells and start learning good spell combos, you might get hooked like me.

Not worth the money they're asking.
*Unstable matchmaking, peer-to-peer lobbies and not enough servers to accomodate the playerbase. *Medium difficulties were bugged at launch, 'suicide mission' and 'impossible' difficulty ended up being easier than 'challenging' as hordes of enemies would infinitely spawn. *Heavy and medium armor don't offer any additional protection over light armor, you're just throwing away speed and stamina for no reason equipping them.
There's a good game buried somewhere underneath this crap, but you can't play it and it's not finished yet. Until then, keep away, keep downvoting. For DEMOCRACY.

EDIT: Made this review at launch, it's now May. Connection issues and crashing are regular occurrences, and Sony is retroactively requiring PSN accounts for access to the game. This sucks because:

April 2011: Hackers Access Personal Data of 77 Million Sony PlayStation Network Users
May 2011: Personal Details on 25 Million Sony Online Entertainment Customers Stolen
June 2011: Sony Pictures Website Hacked, Exposing One Million Accounts
November 2014: Hackers Steal 100 Terabytes of Data from Sony Pictures
August 2017: Hacker Group Accesses Sony Social Media Accounts
September 2023: Sony Investigates Alleged Hack
October 2023: Sony Notifies Employees of Data Breach

It's over. Avoid at all costs, refund and move on.

Very very fun. Lots of factions and heroes to pick from and combat is very rewarding so it's got a ton of replay value. The combat is in real-time but slows and stops to allow you to cast spells and precisely direct your units.
I'd give it a Heroes of Might and Magic out of III

Bad, and getting worse with every subsequent update. It released unfinished and the harsh and short-sighted reworks make it seem like this game was been released in early access.

The world map where you pull off missions has always been extremely tedious and turns the game into an idle sim where you sit around for the right amount of heat and resources to do a mission and get rewards for it - most of the mission rewards aren't worth the time, so you'll be waiting for the good ones to spawn more often than not (The good ones are unlocked by doing DLC missions, hope you got the Season Pass Triple Deluxe Edition!). Otherwise you'll be waiting on your intel to generate. Waiting, waiting, waiting.

The latest update adds minion salary which bankrupts you and causes minions to desert all at once which cannot be recovered from if you have an existing save based on the old build.

There's a lot of potential in this game but it's entirely overshadowed by tedious ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ meant to artificially lengthen playtime rather than focusing on the fun stuff (like building and managing an evil lair). They have a sandbox mode where you have infinite money and resources, but with no story or challenge whatsoever I have no interest in it.

Try it when it's fixed or dirt cheap.
