fantastic game, probably my favorite extraction shooter. reason im not recommending is because of trade windows. when you shoot at someone and they shoot at you, it would be reasonable to think you'd both die. however, this game has an 800 ms trade window, meaning that you have just shy of a full second to shoot someone and guarantee that you both die. in a game that's literally permadeath, this is an absolutely bonkers amount of time. games like overwatch use a 250 ms trade window, almost a quarter of what this game is, and in that game you respawn quite fast and a single death isnt quite as punishing.

ive lost count of the amount of times me and another dude have shot eachother with shotguns and we both have died. who does that benefit??

considering quitting because of this. lower the trade window. its that simple-

how this game hasn't received the labor of love award blows my mind. hello games botched their initial release then proceeded to spend the better part of a decade fulfilling their promises to the player base by going above and beyond with new content. for the file size and price of this game you get more than your fill. 9/10, only point being taken off is for some minor desync issues and minor quality of life features that are missing (specifically not being able to remove the purple waypoints for ruins/portals/etc. without actually visiting them)

Early Access Review
until they fix the storage problem i honestly cant give this game a good review. pals will go and break trees and rocks, which is fantastic, but then theyll just chuck them in any chest they want. this game has been out for so long and this is such an easily fixable issue, just make pals prioritize placing items in chests that already have that item in it. the fact that this hasnt been added yet just shows the devs are either clueless or just dont care. so many people have complained about this its ridiculous. fix this and ill change my review to a recommend.

When the ability to play matches and create decks with the cards you've collected is added to this game it will make it my favorite game of 2025. Wonderfully done!

the addition of call of duty HQ has made my $60 i spent on MW2 completely wasted. here's how it goes on every launch.

launch CODHQ > 2 minutes of unskippable cutscenes > navigate terrible menu to find your version of COD > launch your version > game crashes > too late for refund

and when it doesnt crash when selecting in HQ?

launch CODHQ > select game > be told you have to change your username that youve had for over 10 years because apparently now its offensive (JHHIV, which are my ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ initials) > go to choose new name > requires $10 name change token > banned from playing until i pay money

if you buy this pile of ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, good ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ luck. i hope you realize your mistake within the 2 hour playtime window that youre entitled to get your money back

♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ disgrace and makes me angrier than any game ive ever played. avoid this ♥♥♥♥ like the plague

If you want to hop in and give it a try and enjoy what's given to you, then that's totally cool. But if you want any success or differentiation in this game at all then you'd better be prepared to spend some cash for the cards that are actually helpful.

Deck building requires 10 pets of each tier, but they give you about 13 free pets to choose from for each, so really you might as well keep using the default deck or current free pre-built one. There aren't any decent tier one pets that are free, which heavily impacts the way that you start in arena, and by the time you reach turn 9 you're too full of the garbage pets to compete with the tier one paid-pets that opponents ended up leveling up by round 4 because of their late game viability, and the 10 gold per turn rule with no carry over ensures that any changes you make to your team during that mid-late game section are split across 4 turns, by which point you're out of health and patience for the ridiculousness.

On top of all this, the way that the free cards interact with each other leaves nearly no opening for any early-middle-late game connected strategy, so you're generally left to gamble that you might end up with a composition that can survive a paid, 4 or 5 star card comp.

Here's the worst part: for some reason the in game currency you earn is only applicable towards cosmetics, while the cards you can unlock are paid for with real money (about $12 for all), which is concerning seeing as though all other game companies do this the opposite way around, and for very good reason. I will come back and leave a new review if I hear that they either added more free cards, or a way to buy cards with the in game currency.

Overall, I give this game 1/5 stars. If there were double the amount of free cards in each tier (which seriously isn't asking much at all), then I'd give it a solid 3/5 for an overall fresh and enjoyable auto chess game, but still lacking in content as arena mode gets bland quick (likely due to the lack of pets available and impossibility of competing with paid to win players) and versus mode is deader than the queen.

TL;DR - This game is listed as free but realistically it should be considered a demo. It truthfully costs about $12 to play normally.

This game could be so much better. Rocket League is great, but why would any company own a game with so much potential and great mechanics and waste it on 4 or 5 different modes of hitting a ball around? Why is this a thing? It would take less money and resources to code in at the very least a Fall Guys style mode or something to get players to interact in larger settings. With the way this game works, and the way that the mechanics fall together comfortably after a bit, it's a damn tragedy that Epic owns it now. Instead of investing in some fresh content that could bring in hundreds of thousands of new and returning players, tens of thousands of which are quitting monthly, we get to see new music added to the game that the majority of the community has turned down or just straight up disabled, which then bolsters the file size to an needlessly large chunk of computer space that could be better spent playing a game run by a company that uses a games potential instead of sucking on its tite like a piglet with momma issues.

TLDR: this game is fun and well made, but has been increasingly disappointing over the years as more and more potential has been squandered, and more and more money is made and spent on things that don't benefit the game/community/experience as a whole. 3/10
