I decided to see if I could find a good 2D platformer that was really good.

[Quick Review]

{The Good}
Great gameplay
Unique controls
Easy and challenging at the same time
Enemies are balanced
Very FEW ways to exploit the game mechanics in unintended ways (NOT IMPOSSIBLE)

{The Bad}
The update seems to have screwed some stuff up
The voices have to be muted to play since the main character's voice glitches
Sometimes you'll glitch through ceilings

[Full Review]

Overall the game is a great play. There are various ways to use the variety of abilities that you gain in unique ways. Many of the abilities that would be broken to be able to combine are impossible since they're separated into various categories. The weapons are balanced as well. However there is the option to be able to remove that balance by simply equipping various items and powers that you won't really get until the end of the game. There are a lot of ways to break the game's balance, but they won't happen unless you try to. As I am making this review, I have an exact 200 hours on record, but I plan to increase that number.

Replaying the game makes it easier and easier. You even get in-game trophies for beating bosses without taking any damage. (These are not trophies that are achievements on Steam.) When playing the game, various abilities are gained by beating the enemies. There's a very large variety of them, so it won't be hard to tailor your abilities to your play style. Gaining the same ability from the same (or another, most abilities aren't dropped by more than one enemy. There's a lot of variety.) will increase its overall power.

Some of the negative sides are that there are a few bugs. Most of the notable have to do with sound. Using High Jump, Accelerate, and Void Ray all at the same time will cause an audio glitch. The main character, Miriam, lags the game whenever she speaks. There are times when your familiars will simply disappear on you. Some areas can make you glitch through the ceiling. If you summon a chair while on the train when the train ride ends, and you are sitting on said chair, EVERYTHING GOES WRONG. Walking on air seems fun enough, but you can't even save. The update introduced some new bugs. Chests on the minimap are misaligned. (That's the only one I can think of right now...) One problem that I find with the game that isn't a bug is that a lot of the button combinations are hard to do with a joystick. That means people who play the game with a controller will end up most likely resorting to using the gun.
