90% of the time the game will feel ridiculously unfair. Cold, uncaring, and utterly mystifying. You will learn to fear that which you don't understand.

9% of the time the game will feel like it clicks and you might even beat the tutorial.

1% of the time you will feel like a god who managed to break the game, bending it to your will. Until the game decides to give you a reality check.

You'll suffer the 90% to chase the highs of that 1%. I wholeheartedly recommend.

Bought on sale for 30 bucks, been waiting since its release to pick it up for less than full price. A good looking retro style with lovely music. I was intrigued by the concept at launch and watched folks praise the demos and showing off the mechanics... Unfortunately this game did absolutely nothing for me. A bland story punctuated by repetitive fights that seem to just take too long. This is likely a side effect of their break and boost system, which on its face seems clever until you are forced to break the same low-level enemies ad nauseam.

I love myself a solid rpg, but this just didn't rouse any particular feelings in me. The moment I started skipping dialogue I knew that if I couldn't make it two hours, there's no ways I was ever going to complete this game.

If you're a hardcore jrpg fan this might be fun for you, but I'm going to pass on this grind.

While I enjoy walking simulators and horror, I absolutely cannot get into this game. Slow movement, super slow mouse sensitivity. Thematically I hoped it was going somewhere interesting, but there's just nothing here. Characters are one dimensional: scared kid, depressed mom, obsessed dad.

Gameplay consists of mostly hunting for the next item to progress the plot along. There are some areas early on where I thought the tension would build into something, but instead there's just a couple of random jump scares and people muttering dialogue over each other during the "dramatic" sections. Also, less than 2 hours of content. Definitely not worth the price tag. Soma or Oxenfree did it better with an actual story.
