Early Access Review
Amazing game, fantastic developers.

Ignore the review bombs, it's people on the far right being angry for no good reason.

I love this game, but I cannot support the developers anymore due to their decision to fire their translation team and replace them with AI. This is a horrible decision. AI is unethical to use and is horribly unreliable. This will ruin their future games, and I will never support them so long as they use AI to replace a skilled, talented individual.

♥♥♥♥ AI. ♥♥♥♥ anyone that uses AI.

As the 10 year anniversary rapidly approaches, I feel myself drawn back to this game. It's nostalgic, but also still poignant—Its themes are even more relevant nowadays than they were 10 years ago.

While this game is sparsely populated, cheaters run rampant in the PvP scene, and it runs terribly on modern computers, I still find myself drawn back to this game at least once every year or two. Now, there's also achievements to earn. Finally.

8/10

In this game, you can score more points than there are atoms in the entire universe.

Bungie managed to ratchet up their signature Bungie shenanigans to a new level with this DLC. There are some nuggets of gold in this pile of ♥♥♥♥, but not everyone would be willing to pick through it to get to the gold.

TL;DR:
Bungie somehow shat the bed on this DLC and replaced good, recently added systems with problematic ones. Also, the DLC story is not interesting. Final Shape was WAY better and Bungie repeated Shadowkeep, in my opinion.

The Good:
-The new armour system is genuinely great and feels a lot easier than before to swap between non-exotic armour pieces in builds. It's less resource demanding to level up gear, and the addition of gearset bonuses like Division 2 has was a great addition.
-The portal makes it much easier to dive into activities that don't take up much time and give good rewards, even working well with the event loot, in my opinion. Makes it clear what activities you can focus for the rewards you want, and leave drops a little less up to chance.
-The new characters voice actors are doing good all around, and some are even fantastic for their emotive voices and understanding of the tone, especially Lodi's VA. He's one of the best in the franchise because of the perky energy he brings with a good range, which is very hard to do in voice work. Hats off to him.
-Ghost is back! After the last episode had no ghost dialogue and several other voice lines were missing due to the strikes, we have ghost back. Wild to me that they just... removed your little buddy like that.

The Meh:
-The storage required from this game is still 122 GB and it doesn't always feel that there is enough content in the game to justify taking such a large amount of disk space. I'm fortunate to have a good amount of storage, but the same cannot be said for everyone.
-The misson design of the DLC is not great, I won't lie. It's not bad enough to warrant it being a "bad" aspect, but they are fine for what they are.
-The pathfinder reward system for ritual activities was replaced by generic daily and weekly missions. While I like the new reward system, I somewhat miss pathfinder. It made you shake up your build and playstyle and diversify the activities you played to get rewards, and that's somewhat lacking in the new system.

The Bad:
-The story of the DLC is very forgettable and a bit jarring. It kind of just throws you into the story without giving you a primer or allowing any cutscene to catch you up to speed. Just grabs you by the scruff of the neck and heaves you into a portal.
-The DLC's writing is pretty boring and somewhat lacklustre. Generally I can forgive some story issues here and there, but the pacing is absolutely all over the place and pretty weak most of the time.
-They removed the great ritual vendor reputation. This entirely removed the incentive to play strikes, crucible, and gambit for me, as well as entirely gutted the potential rewards and relegating high tier crafting materials almost entirely to the season pass or crafting through Rahool. This was a BAD change, and I hope that they bring those systems back since they rewarded and incentivised playing certain activities. That is entirely gone.
-The removal of the reputation system for Xur is baffling. Genuinely, what was going through their heads? It entirely removes the incentive to play ritual activities since you can't keep farming coins for reputation rewards and resets. It basically reverted Xur back to his pre-final shape form with a few additions, but he's almost useless again.
-The flipside of the portal, is that it throws you into activities without understanding the context of the surrounding story of the episode or expansion's missions and mechanics. I've been watching new players entirely miss mechanics of missions since the mechanic was only really explained in a prior mission in that particular Episode or expansion.

In Darktide, you spend hundreds of hours accomplishing missions that a singular Space Marine could do in an afternoon.

This DLC gives you a sarcastic little rodent that calls you an idiot for the entire game and occasionally gives you stuff. I also ended up re-doing several boss fights because the squirrel was being an idiot and ran into fire and died.

With the complete lack of 2k-esque hockey games on PC, this game filled the perfect niche that I was looking for. Looking forward to the campaign 2.0 update!

Awesome little idle game, a great way to pass time in online meetings that DEFINITELY could've been an email.
