Ninja Gaiden 4 manages to, in part, capture the unique elements of the series' Combat. It misses the mark when it comes to its priorities though: NG was always about precision, split-second decision making and surviving against insurmountable odds. Platinum Games opted for a more flashy approach, taking away control from the player during crucial moments in favour of scripted show offs through bland, repeated environments. The joy of slicing and dicing remains, but the final result leaves a lot to be desired, especially for fans of the series.

Hell Is Us is being called a lot of things, most of them totally wrong: "Soulslike", "ARPG", "Hack 'n Slash". In reality, it is a title much closer to the logic of an old-school Adventure game than any of the above. The developers saw fit to include a lot of combat in their endeavour, but ultimately, this Creation will test your mind more than it will your reflexes. It has the guts to tell a story that hits close to home, especially in today's geopolitical landscape, and does not mince words. When other developers try to play safe, avoiding any kind of friction with any and all sensibilities, Rogue Factor dared remind us that the greatest monster resides in us, human beings. This journey is a Hell of our making, but even like this, it's an absolutely worthwhile one to experience.
