Writing this review at about 8 hours of playtime. I knew this was going to be a disappointment going into it, as I have been following all the news released about this game since it was first announced when Hardsuit labs was still the dev team. I was a major fan of vtmb 1 and I have played it fully through about 3 times and I believe it was one of the best RPG games and games in general I've ever played. I decided I would play through vtmb 2 regardless of how bad it was, because I had already pre-ordered it a long time ago, and because I enjoy the world of darkness universe and wanted to see if the story and writing were any good. So far the main story is decent, and I don't hate the writing. The main story so far is about the only relatively good thing about the game as well as the atmosphere (sometimes). The RPG mechanics basically don't exist, no inventory, no money, abysmal skill tree progression, no karma like humanity system, no running out of blood and going into a frenzy, no persuasion, or intimidation speech checks in dialogue, almost no character creation elements, all side quests are extremely boring and clearly there to just pad out game time, combat is fun for about 5 min and then I find myself trying to avoid it as much as possible and running past enemies if possible just to get to the next cut scene, no new havens to unlock, no upgrades to your haven, or anything else of the sort. I don't usually care very much if the graphics are good but with the rest being ♥♥♥♥, I've decided to complain about that as well. Graphics are decent in some areas and then downright horrendous in other areas, not sure how you can have worse graphics in some areas than vtmb 1 had because that game is from 2004. I will likely finish playing through the main story just out of love for the universe, but I cant see myself coming back to try and play the DLC's when those release. I cannot recommend this game to anyone, and I also believe they is no way they could fix this game with any sort of updates and I doubt the community could fix it through modding either, as the game has fundamental flaws and the entire game would have to be redone from scratch. I hate Paradox Interactive, I really hope this hurt them financially and they just sell the rights of the game off to a publisher who is competent and cares to cash in on a goldmine and make a good RPG that could turn this title into a massive successful RPG series. I don't think its likely that The Chinese Room are to blame, I don't know what goes on behind the scenes but I'd imagine based on Paradox's past that the state of the game has to do with their publisher practices.

It is time for Bethesda to go back to the drawing board and figure out what went wrong and what has been going wrong for sometime with their games, and I would imagine begin firing/reallocating assets and developers as It seems to be consistently poor performance from the team. I have great love for the past games of Bethesda and would say most of favorite gaming memories and experiences came from Bethesda Games studios but they have not put out a memorably good Title/content in about 10+ years, the endless remasters of Skyrim, paid mods, milking Fallout 76 (which is a downright terrible game IMO) with all the cosmetic and paid content. Bethesda has truly lost the plot almost entirely with only fragments of what made their games good left in the products. I had such high hopes (naive I know) for Starfield and despite being extremely disappointed I held on to what little hope I had left that they could turn it around post launch and with Shattered Space DLC. They needed to come out swinging like Mike Tyson in his prime and instead tripped and fell flat on their face at the start of the round (reoccurring theme for them lately). Unfortunately at this point though I feel that even if they did come out with a solid DLC it still couldn't have saved the game, from a terrible story in the base game, awful companions, a silly gimmick new game plus mechanic, or totally underdeveloped and missed opportunities with the base building and many many more flaws that would take too long to type out. Bethesda needs to take a long hard look at itself and decide if this is the type of game and the type of product they feel happy and satisfied delivering to its player base, and the player base needs to decide when enough is enough and to stop feeding Bethesda and accepting and purchasing severely lackluster content. Maybe Bethesda will show a return to form that made them great in the past, maybe Elder Scrolls 6 or a new Fallout will be good, but I've totally lost hope for them until proven otherwise.

Fantastic, Atmospheric horror game. I Loved it. I have never been on an oil rig before but its exactly how I imagine it and it makes the story and horror elements very immersive.

Great Horror multiplayer game. If you enjoy horror co-op games you'll love this. The cosmetic/upgrade/unlock system is great and gives the game more replayability. I hope that going forward Red Barrel keeps making new content for it for a long time to come.

Better than Original Skyrim. Extremely under appreciated piece of work. One of the best stories of any game ever.
