Graphically gorgeous, sound design is incredible, and the gameplay itself is solid and feels compelling.
I'm early into the game, but so far I feel like it really does a good job of balancing the need for stakes in the game by making you craft pretty much everything, and does a good job of making PVP threats feel real. Trust other players and you become a fighting force to be reckoned with, get backstabbed and lose all your loot. The PVE is also great with enemies that range from "easily dispatched" to "inescapable hellfire". The community is also great so far, hopefully it manages to keep the friendly demeanor that makes scavenging so fun.

For all the city builders out there, so many fail to make their cities feel ALIVE. This game not only provides good, approachable challenge, but a beautiful setting in an unending golden hour. Creativity has meaning and weight without constraining the player too much.
I wish the night cycle was just a bit longer to show off all these lamp posts, but that's a small gripe with a well polished product for early access.

The game at launch has bugs and stutters, it needs further optimization. Luckily the developers are well aware of this and have a long history of supporting and expanding on their games for years after launch. Looking beyond the bugs, what you see is what you get. It's Cities Skylines, updated. Better visuals, better depth, better challenge, less busywork and more fun. If you enjoyed the original, have a computer that meets the recommended specs, and can have a little patience with aspects of the experience, Cities Skylines 2 is worth investigation.

Fun to play, will ruin your life in all the right ways if you're someone who loves tweaking and refining a convoluted process.

Planet Coaster is better in every concievable way and clearly has the fans in mind first. Don't buy this without trying Planet Coaster first.
