So swingy it's just not fun. The feeling you have isn't enjoyment, it's addiction. Play a gacha game instead, at least you get 2d women out of it.

There's a lot to be said for a roguelike that doesn't begrudge you winning the game on normal even on your first ever run. Looking at you, FTL.

It's not perfect, but it's pretty decent. Some progression points are poorly telegraphed. Try to get as far as you can on your own, but don't be afraid to check the wiki if you get stuck. The crafting system is not very deep, and the exploration gets a bit shallow towards the end. There is also a lot of time spent just holding forward. But it's still fun on the whole, and the ocean is atmospheric and pretty even in 2023.

It's pretty good, I guess. Excellent at "being a cat". The ending is very stupid.

good:
- fast paced shooty fun
- every weapon and power is useful from beginning to end
bad:
- especially later on, the fights have so many escalating spawn rounds that if you have to redo them due to a death, it drags a lot
- enemy collision boxes are too restrictive and get in the way of dashes

Okay, I finished the game at 20 hours.
Absolutely loved it. Not quite as good as the first, but maybe 90% as good. It tries to be more serious, and in doing so falls over a few times. I think Psychonauts 1 made the right decision in not taking *itself* entirely seriously at any point, and where 2 diverges from that it sometimes hits noticeable narrative issues.

Now, that said. Warning. MILD SPOILERS: This is probably *the* most liberal game I have ever played, after maybe the Democracy series. If you have any historic sympathy for say, autocratic eastern countries, or are offended by justifications of military interventionism, you may not enjoy the tone of certain levels. Should be fine for 98% of people likely to play it though.

Like Psychonauts meets SCP.

Any Half-Life or VR fan needs to play this.
