The physics feel really fun to drive with, the car choices are really good.

But the game absolutely falls face first with its mechanics, the maps, ai, boost, and slipstream are completely out of wack.

Every race ends up being a mindless rubberband fest with constant 3 wide bundle of cars, the ai rubberbands to the point of making actual arcade racers jealous.

You'd think with physics made for tight cornering and quick acceleration, the maps would be designed more tightly with complex turns, but that isn't the case. Each map feels like a loop around roads the width of the purposed Texas highways, in most cases you accelerate up to 6th gear and never shift down.

With the ai, they really wanted to put emphasis on "artificial" the ai cars constantly get up besode you and knock you around. It really doesn't matter what car you pick, the ai will always find its way to get up next to you. There isn't much for skill here, you just have to abuse the boost system as I will mention below.

The boost mechanic feels like it causes more problems than to be a fun mechanic that rewards drifting, the problem with it is that its too rewarding.
Given the overly rubberbandy ai, the best strategy is not to fight it, but to absolutely abuse it. Let an ai car take 1st as you freeload off the slipstream and when the final lap comes, just unload absolutely everything to secure first.

Slipstreaming is an absolute mess, it's easier to catch up to other players here than it is in Mario Kart, the slipstream is laughably generous and lets you catch up from anywhere. This ends up feeling like a bad bandaid to the overly rubberbandy ai.

This game had the physics to be a good arcade racer, but it unfortunately just fails with very confusing design choices. I really wanted to like this game but it feela absolutely awful to play.

A nice arcade shooter to start up once in awhile. Tons of combos to play around with, lots to master, high skill roof.
