Just like its predecessor, Dark Souls 2 draws you in with an interesting visual art style, then beats you down until you learn. All "Souls" games are firm but fair, and this one is no exception. If you put time and effort into it, the feeling of victory after putting down that enemy that had you beat so many times, or feeling like you can finally catch your breath once you find the next bonfire, is extremely rewarding.

If you've played Dark Souls, there are changes for the better and changes for the worse, but in the end I feel it balances itself back again to deliver a fun, engaging game. For those story-seekers, there's a very deep story there, if you're willing to find it. Unlike traditional role-playing games, where the story centers on the PC, you make your own story via your actions, and you unearth (sometimes literally) the lore of the world you inhabit through artifacts that you find or wield. On the description of the rarer or more unconventional weapons and items, you get a glimpse of the past. You must find more to get a clearer picture.

In all, a very rewarding gameplay, story, and visual experience. Highly recommended. Praise the Sun!
