After seeing how ridicule Leon with a chainsaw looked, I was really eager to play this game, but honestly it was a huge letdown.

Grace's sections feel like a worse version of RE7, while Leon's sections feel like a worse version of RE4R. On top of that, combining both campaigns into a singular, big campaign only tanked the pacing like crazy, and when you're getting cozy with Grace, or getting a high with Leon's gameplay, the game suddenly switches and kills the feeling almost instantly.

The animations look wonky, and lack the punch that even the oldest games in the franchise have, I dunno why suddenly Capcom decided to pull their punches and whenever you die it looks like the monsters are humping you or groping you.

And the middle point of the game became a huge nostalgia wank when you revisit Raccoon City, but you know what? Not even that is done correctly. The first half of your visit to Raccoon City is spent in the most generic, boring and repetitive scenario ever made by Capcom, and you know why that happened? Because Capcom went lazy with RE3R. That game was supposed to show us more about Raccoon City, like the original RE3, but instead Capcom decided the entire game should happen undeground, so we saw almost NOTHING about the city. So, of course, Requiem can't remedy that at this point, but even then they didn't try to bring back scenarios from the older games to make up for it, so you're going to spend a good chunk of your time in a generic post apocalyptic city with nothing interesting to see or do. You can't wank my nostalgia if I don't have any, who the ♥♥♥♥ came up with this horrible idea after basically castrating the only mainline game that tried to show the city? And even if you didn't want to use RE3R, you can make up all the scenarios from the Outbreak games. It is so stupid and bafflingly idiotic I can't be mad enough about it.
The visit to the RPD was fun though, that's the only good thing I can say about it.

And then we have the other problems about the game, like the incredibly SLOW pacing and the multiple cutscenes and scenarios you don't get to play or skip because those are not cinematics, so in multiple playthroughs this will become even more annoying more earlier than anticipated. Capcom should stop making short games with long ass cutscenes and passive gameplay, Village did that a lot and is not better here. If replaying is the main point of these games, let me get to it faster.

As a whole, RE Requiem took many elements, watered down most of them and fuse them into one of the most mediocre games they ever made so far. The gameplay isn't bad, the plot is what you expect, and it looks great, but is not a good experience at all.

Maybe if they separated the campaigns into two with AN ACTUAL ZAPPING SYSTEM LIKE THE ORIGINAL RE2 HAD, maybe, just maybe, I would bump it from a 4 to a 5, or even a 6.

Buy it in a sale, it doesn't even have The Mercenaries yet.
