Simple & overused concept but executed extremely well. Entire premise of the game changes about 11 hours in and it becomes something far deeper than at first glance.

This got an unannounced engine upgrade to the latest Dragon Engine and it's beautiful. The original game had one of the worst TAA's I've ever seen in a game, to the point where i ran this thing on 2.5x the resolution to fix it. Now? It has DLSS/FSR4/XESS with frame gen, so this problem is heavily negated. This by itself, even with no other fixes, makes this 100% the best way to play my favorite Yakuza game.

I don't like super heroes, I don't like point and click games, and I don't watch cartoons. All in all, one of my top games of the past 5 years.

Download FusionFix to fix this port.

With the same settings my fps went from 64 to 179, not including the bugs it fixes or the Vulkan setting which ups performance even more.

The bad:
Unannounced stealth nerfs to powerful (but not broken) items
99% of enemies do double damage, including contact damage early game
Side quests are abysmal fetch quests (required to do act 3)
Some progress & check point items are so well hidden I had to search them up (and get spoiled in the process)
Punishes you for experimenting with the new crest mechanic, by locking expansion slots under limited items
Sometimes just locks you into 1 crest and there's nothing you can do about it
Experimenting with tools is also punished under currency requirements that only get worse as you die
Extremely sharp difficulty spikes that even amazing players struggled in (act 1 end, act 2 mob room)
Balance is still WIP, I can beat the act 2 final boss quicker than 3 trash mobs
Inaccessible to those who don't play many games or have less dexterity

The good:
Hornet is a 10/10 protagonist
Art, enemies, music, & mechanics are upgrades from Hollow Knight

Unfortunately this game just outstayed its welcome to me, and crossed into bs territory rather than actually difficult. If you're worried about difficulty or the time sink, wait a few more patches till the devs realize what they actually want to do. They're actively nerfing enemies, bosses, and making many stealth changes we still don't know about.

This is a worse Nier Automata in every way, the story is the most predictable ♥♥♥♥ I've ever seen in my life and not a single character has a ounce of personality. I only remember 1 sidequest I did, the rest were fetch quests. But a worse Nier Automata is still a good game, and the music + combat more than make up for it. Although the combat is clunky due to it being a combo masher, it still needs a little bit of thinking to properly do right. Bonus points for the developers STILL working hard on patching an already well ported game.

If it's not fun in the first 2 hours, refund it. I'm that confident it'll entice you.

It's not what was promised, and it never will be. But if you can get past that and just play it for what it is, it's one of the best games to have ever released, full stop. The narrative, music, characters, gameplay, and missions are what sell this game.
