The game was Overwhelmingly Positive ~2 hours after the release. Most of the reviews here are 'become back my money' memes and copium from fans, mine probably is too but i'll try to say a few serious words below for anyone who's on the fence.

I love The Binding of Isaac and i spent a good chunk of my life on it. I was skeptical about Mewgenics - if it was a random game i would've skipped it, since i can't say i love the theme or the visual aspect of it, and i did skip the Bum Bo game for similar reasons. But I gave it a shot, figured i'll just refund if it's bad.

Right away the game plays better than what i was imagining, i see a lot of potential with items combos and plenty of room for planning and strategizing. They say "1000+ unique abilities (75 per class), 900+ items", everything is giving hard Isaac vibes, which I'm all for, it smells like an awesome game and if they give it the love and attention they gave Isaac and continue to add content i can't see how this can become anything but an amazing spiritual successor. Not sure how I feel about the character management system and the sounds and visuals are just as annoying/meh to me as they are charming, but i think they'll grow on me.

I'd definitely recommend giving this a shot. I'm not refunding it.
There are 281 achievements tied to progression just like with Isaac, I unlocked "The Sewers" last night, feels like there's a lot to uncover.
The grind is on.

Great gameplay, story, soundtrack. It packs lots of content without getting repetitive/boring, there are many different maps, all different yet all astounding. It is well written and i love that the dialogue feels natural, everything made me feel like i'm playing a game that respects me and my time and a game that has been made with passion, similar to how i felt playing Baldur's Gate 3. The endgame side content is challenging and pushes you to work on your builds, and there are lots of build guide videos online showing that every character has the potential to become obscenely powerful with the right cocktail of pictos.
Overall an amazing game that i could not put down after i started playing, one that i will definitely remember and will stay with me and an experience so gripping that i started feeling the itch to start NG+ and experiment with other characters before i even finished my first playthrough.

Great short game. Anomaly hunting game similar to Exit 8 and Cabin Factory. It's stressful/frustrating in the beginning and cozy towards the end, as you become accustomed to the maps and anomalies. Achievements are nice to pursue and don't require grind.
I bought this at a -20% price due to steam summer sale but i think the game has a fair price for what it provides

Great game, just wished it was longer, especially considering the price. I saw the "Horror" tag on this game and that made me buy it, and it wasn't really what i expected in that regard, but i enjoyed the story nevertheless. It left me feeling the same as after finishing Hellblade, and Martha is Dead, thinking that it is a nice psychological horror game with a nice dark atmosphere but i wish they did more with it.

I haven't played the original version of this and maybe some nostalgia would have made it feel like a great game but i found it to be alright. The game is pretty linear, story is ok end enjoyable for the ~10 hours it lasts but I wouldn't have liked it to be 20 or 30 hours. I found no reason to explore the open world and the gameplay that was a bit clunky at times did not help either.
I couldn't recommend buying this for the full listed price but it can provide some fun if you get a good discount.
