Early Access Review
I was severely hyper focused on this game for about a week after I finally got my hands on the full version. It took me about that long to feel as though I'd fully explored ONE play style with the current content, and I'm still periodically coming up with more stuff to do with said style. Looking forward to many more hours, days, weeks, months and maybe years with this title.

So, let's talk about the game itself. It's early access. There are bugs. Content is very limited as, at the time of writing, we're in version 0.34.0.0. However, the game has a lot to discover both mechanically and lore-wise. You won't be spoon-fed anything, only taught the absolute basics you need to survive and further learn on your own. I would highly suggest joining the official Discord both so you have a ready resource for information digging, and so you can participate in the weekly content votes.

Weekly content? Votes? What's that about? Well, every Friday, the previously voted upon content (and plentiful bug fixes) are added to the game. The dev has said content plotted out already, but offers the vote system so that the players get to pick which portion is added next. The community then tests it out, provides feedback on bugs and make suggestions, and makes it far easier for both fixes and adjustments to be made for the fun as well as quality of the game.

Now, let's go ahead and talk about my favorite part of the game thus far: THE MAGIC.
Boy oh boy, I love the magic in this game. One of the defining features is the magic system, and while it's not complete YET, it's very robust and fun to play with. At the start, you focus on being clever with your spellcasting in order to succeed, whereas in the endgame, you are truly a reality warper. If it's a mechanic in the game (that reasonably could be done with magic), then it's possible to discover the Effect keyword related to it. Once you know this Effect, you can apply it to spells you craft yourself, or enchantments. You learn these Effects by either casting a spell (learned through a Grimoire or by expending a single-use scroll), or by reading an Encyclopedia that contains the knowledge. I would go on about the magic, but I think folks who are interested might enjoy it more if they were to just learn through gameplay.

Don't worry, non-mages are more than capable of doing awesome stuff too. All I mentioned were the Spellcasting, Spellmaking and Enchanting skills. There's Acrobatics, Alchemy, Athletics, Barbaric/Edged/Improvised/Martial/Stabbing Weapons, Bartering, Building, Cooking, Crafting (my favorite), Dodging, Dual Wielding, Heavy/Light Armor and Unarmored, Kicking, Mechanics, Peasantry (generic labor, mainly resource gathering), Performance, PUNCHING (the most fun melee skill imho), Riding, Shielding, Throwing, Shooting (bows, crossbows and muskets), Smithing, Speechcraft, Stealing, Stealth, and finally Survival. You're not restricted to a mere handful of these, either. You can learn them by performing their related activities, be taught by NPCs, or learn from Guidebooks! These skills can be taught to NPC as well, both to companions and randoms you find in the wild. Certain services can only be performed by NPCs who possess a certain skill(set), such as recharging your Mana reserves, repairing, crafting, or smithing items for you, and more.

I'll likely edit this review further in the future as things change.

Try the Demo! It's up to date and offers the full content of the game, the only difference is that you're put on a time limit. 1 hour before 'THE WORLD ENDS'. Plenty of time to get a grasp of the game, explore a few sets of mechanics at a time, and maybe make a mad dash to destroy The Devil Spire itself.

Man... it's amazing what the base game offers, and the available mods just gives you an ALWAYS expanding library of content to customize your experience how you want it. Hell, I'd highly suggest grabbing the DLC, even at full price, just because the game's THAT GOOD. I'll never regret this purchase.

I've found this game to be an invigorating experience. It's engaging, to say the least. The story will draw you in, the puzzles can make you scratch your head and slap yourself for derping about, and the combat is... well, it's not difficult, but it too is entertaining. All in all, I had a blast, and frankly, I would suggest this game to anyone who enjoys a good adventure.

This, in my opinion, is a very, very, VERY good game. Of course, it was better BEFORE Perfect World came by, bought it, messed up some of the systems (like crafting), then put a complete stop to content creation altogether. Even so, it's still worth picking up and playing through the content with a friend or two. The powers are fun, the gameplay is action-packed, and heck, the graphics can make it look like you're the star in an awesome comic... starring you! Even if you don't Pay To Play this game, you still can enjoy the 'classes' set up for Free To Play folk, as they're not really holding much back from you... not. Actually, if you're unlucky enough to play the class system, you follow a linear path for progression (which is fine), but you're also heavily restricted for how you can dress you character up. All things considered, though, a must play, and best with friends.
