It's got some design decisions that, compared to previous monster hunter games, don't work well, but others have explained that better than I could. And the endgame - at least when I last played - was completely lackluster. But despite all that it would be a pretty decent game.

Key word being would.

I knew i had to upgrade my PC just for this game. Got a new AMD 7000 series GPU. And it was playable. Not great. Not even fine. Just playable. I got through it. Had a nice time. The optimization issues everyone's talking about? I luckily avoided the worst of it. But it was still noticeable. There were slowdowns. Frames dropped. It took a bit of finagling for me to actually get the textures to look decent and not hazy as hell.

I wasn't using top-shelf stuff, but my hardware's still close to high-end. The 9000 series hadn't even come out yet - that was just under a month off. And while Wilds was definitely playable, there were still a bunch of issues. I still had a lot of fun with the game, but anyone with lower specs would've had significantly worse issues. Only a fraction of people might have the hardware needed to actually run the game in the state its in right now, let alone run it well.

If you can't run it, why bother? If you can run it, there are better alternatives in World and Rise on Steam that both run better and are more content-rich. You can play one of those until Wilds fixes itself up, if it ever does.

A pretty good mod, all things considered.
