Before this game, I was never really a big fan of the dungeon crawl, hack-and-slash style of gameplay. But it wasn't because I didn't enjoy playing them, it was because I had never given any of them a chance. I just thought they weren't the type of games to suit my interests. I've tried endless spawn, horde mode, etc. type games in the past - games where you basically do the same thing over and over again. I thought Torchlight would be like that. Instead, I was surprised to discover how addicting it was for me. The levels are gorgeous and interesting. The loot drops are rewarding and entertaining. What more can I say? Sometimes the game isn't about having the best gear, but rather the silliest. Such as a staff that squawks every time you hit an enemy with it. Torchlight is, simply put, fun. I wish I could re-experience the wonder of playing it through for the first time all over again.
