Game is still as broke as it was during early access over a year ago, you drop, can't pickup guns cos of lag, try opening a door to escape some idiot with the shotgun which you just tried picking up but couldn't, and realise that you can't even open the door without a 3 second delay and being teleported 7 steps back around 17 times :) Pretty much sums up the early game of this, not to mention the numerous Chinese hackers you'll encounter if you do somehow make out out during the beginning.

The game was promising, but after over a year of owning it not much has been done about the server lag, and a lot of the issues from early access are still in after the main release. Instead of fixing the game the devs add more and more crates and useless cosmetic sh*t like emotes... Who literally no one has ever asked for. Its easier to add paid crates with useless skins than actually making the game playable :) Shame that after a year this game is in pretty much the same sh*t state that it was in before "leaving" early access even though it still feels like an alpha with microtransactions.

Only reason they probably decided to "leave" early access was to justify waiting months to update the game with new cosmetic items rather than bug fixes, and adding in more monetizable content like emotes which they clearly will make available in new crates :)

Amazing setting and story but ruined by very poor optimization and bugs on PC.

Great game, however performance is quite poor on the big ships, especially on the interior. Overall, the game is great if you enjoy working as a team to defeat enemy space ships, completing missions, and visiting different planets each with new things to discover! This is sort of what No mans sky should've been, even though this games map is a lot smaller, it feels much better as you can actually make meaningful upgrades to your crew, and ship. For example, you can buy nuclear warheads for your weapons expert to launch at enemy vessles, or you can increase your ships coolant capacity or engine power etc.

Space combat feels great on this game, and its very satisfying when you and your crew take out a gigantic enemy space ship which attempted to raid you, and loot the remains of their ship! You can sell scrap which you can obtain from enemy ships, and buy new equipment for your own ship instead to become stronger!

Your crew is made up of a Captain who is in charge of your ship, a Pilot who pilots your ship at the captains will, a weapons expert who is responsible for maintaining weapons and engaging the enemy, an engineer who is in charge of maintaining the ships health, core temp, power etc. And also a scientist who researches new things which you can find on planets! Each crew member has a very unique, yet important role, and having a whole crew co-operating together and making the ship run feels great, it's honestly a very good co-op experience if done right.

The graphics could be a little better, especially the interiors of the ships, however the skybox, and the planets look great! One drawback of this game however, is that sometimes when on the bigger ships, you tend to get around 30-40 FPS on a pretty decent PC like mine, even though I run games like Arma 3 at around 60 FPS. However it's not unplayable, and doesn't ruin the experience for me.

The devs do bring out regular updates, and they recently added jetpacks to the game, allowing you to jump multiple times in the air.

Positives of the game:
  • Very fun with friends
  • Feels great when you operate such a big ship with your friends
  • Lots of stars/planets to explore
  • Random NPC missions such as exploring lost ships, engaging in combat, etc.
  • Unique roles for each crew member
  • Upgrades to ships

    Negatives:
  • Graphics aren't the best
  • Sometimes performance is a little low

On the whole, this is a great game with a lot of potential! However, there are some drawbacks, but there isn't anything majorly game breaking, and for £10.99, this is very worth it.

first of all, the overall feel of the game is amazing, the game is super immersive, and tense as f*ck during moments of combat, and when scavenging around for those vital supplies. You can play the game in many different styles; for example, you may chose to craft yourself basic weapons using rocks and branches which you may find lying about, or by hitting rocks or trees, or you may save up your F.U.N.C (in game currency used for crafting, healing, opening crates, calling in drops) to either open crates, or call in one of your drops (however this usually results in you hiding, and being sneaky until you gather enough F.U.N.C, and may result in you being dead before you can open your crate, or call in a drop.)

The perk system contains a wide variety of perks, ranging from offensive, defensive, and utility perks, all of which can be paired up with eachother, allowing players to make very powerful combinations, and with the right drop, you can be very deadly to other players. However, the perk system is a little bit over powered at the moment (in my opinion.) For example, there are perks allowing you to achieve +15% damage on all weapons, or spawn with a man tracker (allows you to track any enemies within a 99 meter radius, aslong as you are standing still.) And I would like to see the perks being nerfed a little bit, as sometimes its very hard to win against a guy with a full set of defensive, or offensive perks.

Furthermore, the combat system is quite weak at the moment, it feels very cheap in a sense, and very cluttered. If you are playing against players that are lagging, you'll find it very hard to block or counter attack their hits, and sometimes you may find yourslef or your opponent just mashing the attack button, until you can't block or counter them, which is quite unbalanced. If the combat is redone, this game would pretty much be perfect.

Overall though, I definitely recommend this game, especially as its only £10.99, and the only microtransactions are for cosmetic items (which are very easy to get, as you get 1 skin per game, aslong as you don't die straight away.) I just really hope the devs don't ditch/sell out (cough cough, h1z1.)

Positives:
  • Very well designed arena
  • Pretty good graphics
  • Good-ish performance on mid-ranged PC's
  • Very intense and fun!
  • Definitely worth the price
  • Easy to get cosmetic items

    Negatives:
  • Combat feels cheap/random at times
  • Some weapons need further balance

First of all, this game is probably one of the most pay to win games I have ever seen on steam. you can either pay to unlock all the weapons instantly, or you can chose to spend hours and hours grinding away to unlock 1 item, which will most likely be dissapointing, and have an insanely high repair cost. For example, as the Soviet faction, you get two weapons for free, a basic SMG, and a basic semi automatic rifle. You can chose between the two, however both weapons are very weak compared to the "premium" weapons which you may chose to grind away for, or buy using "gold" which is accquired with real currency (£5 for around 1,200 gold, which is approximately 1 weapon unlock.... so yeah, definitely not worth it.) The second weapon, which is a bolt action rifle, is unlocked after achieving a certain rifle badge level, which takes a long time to get anyway (ofcourse you may chose the easy way... by paying real money to unlock it instantly) And then you must purchase the weapon for 92,000 coins... yeah, that's right, 92k, for one weapon! That's not to mention all of the upgrade and repair costs, which you will be needing. To put this into perspective, At level 1, your soldier will earn around 8,000 silver/coins per hour, so you will be needing to spend over 11 hours in game, just to unlock your second weapon... And also, it will take a lot longer, as your weapons need repairing, which is also very expensive (around 1,000-5,000 per game, depending on how much you use the gun, and how long the game is, oh and also on the uprades which you have.)

Furthermore, all items/upgrades are insanely over priced, and are practically useless for how much they cost, for example, the improved iron sights, show a different iron sight as the icon, however, when you finally purchase the sight, you will be dissapointed to find that it literally has no effect on the weapons aesthetics, and simply upgrades the weapons precisions. The developer never mentions that the icon in the store doesn't represent the actual in game item, and there is no way to refund it aswell. Also, there are other items, such as a pistol, which costs 72,000 to unlock, yeah, 72k for a f*cking pistol, which does jack sh*t... Same with the binoculars, which cost 32,000, and do nothing but allow you to view enemies at a longer distance.

Another major flaw of the game, is how repetetive it gets. You'll be spending most of your time grinding to get your favourite item, and the game gets very boring, very quickly. To unlock new classes/carreer options, such as the paratrooper, or pilot, you'll have to spend a long time saving up, and ranking up to get them, meaning that you'll be spending a very long time as infantry, fighting with the same weapons, on the same maps and gamemodes, over, and over again. There is no real variety within the factions aswell, as they all have the same basic guns, but with just different skins and names. Also, each faction has a jeep, motorcycle, and an APC for the infantry, with the only difference being, that the Soviets can carry more people in the jeep, however it comes with no mounted MG.

Yet another huge flaw, is the fact that it is virtually impossible to win as the attackers on the war game mode. Defenders sometimes start with as much as 5,000 spawn tickets, tanks, planes, vehicles etc... Whilst the attackers usually have around 800 spawn tickets, limited time, VERY limited vehicle choice, and 1 spawn point, which you guessed it, quickly gets crowded and swamped by the defenders, and the game turns into one giant spawn camp fest. Many of the maps also feature only 1 bridge connecting the two sides, and if the enemy defends the bridge well, then it's game over, as the swimming in this game is very slow, and you are very exposed as your playermodel stands out a lot in the water. But yeah, as I was saying, the game very quickly turns into the defenders over-running the attackers spawn, and just absoloutely destroying them, and with the lack of tanks, planes and other vehicles, the attackers are very weak. I understand that this is meant to simulate real war and battles etc... However it just doesn't suit a game like this at all, as it's literally impossible to progress past the second capture point as the attackers, unless your team is full of high rankers with all the good gear unlocked.

On the whole, this game isn't too bad (gameplay wise) And it would have a lot of potential, if it wasn't for the greed of the developers, I've also heard rumours that people get banned for silly things such as shooting into the air (which gives you weapon ribbon XP.) This is not stated in the game rules, yet people have been banned for doing this, and the customer support service is shocking, with the response time sometimes being up to 2 weeks... Many of the developers also don't seem to care if you get banned, and reply to your support ticket in a nasty, sarcastic manner (someone mentioned this with proof in a review I think.)
