What a treat. Obviously a shorter game, took me about 6 hours for my playthrough. Definitely worth a play. This is basically a classic walking sim detective whodunit kind of game, but with a bit of a twist in the story and how it plays out. It's not a AAA game, so don't expect quite that level of quality. But I feel like it absolutely delivered for the price I paid. The artwork and environment are top notch.

I would compare the experience similar to that I experienced playing Firewatch, for those who have played that game.

If you like story driven narrative gameplay, definitely pick this one up. It's almost always on sale.

The second entry in this series is again a moving and incredibly empathetic experience towards those who experience psychosis. The audio design of this game doesn't fall behind the first, and is perhaps the foremost achievement.

Gameplay wise, I can't point to anything specific, but this feels slightly less involved than the first game. It felt as though there were less puzzles and the combat that existed was slightly more frustrating and slighly less engaging than the first game. BUT, this game really isn't about combat for me.

Visually this game is stunning - one of the best uses of modern unreal engine I have experienced, and brought my 4090 to its knees - but well worth it. Extra bonus points for ultrawide experience.

The game is an amazing experience end to end and I highly recommend it. Do NOT play this without headphones - it is a must.

All in all, I would recommend this game to anyone who has patience enough to take it seriously for what it is. If you are someone who favors gameplay above story and immersion, this one might be a pass. If you enjoy emotionally moving experiences, and are not opposed to the idea of what amounts to an interactive movie, then definitely give this a shot.

As far as ratings, I would rate this slightly below the original game - that game was a MUCH more visceral experience because it focuses on much more extreme emotions and situations. granted, the goal the developers set out for this game was to "move her experience forward", and so this game does that well.

What a delightful little experience on steamdeck in 2024. I know this game was probably far more groundbreaking / acclaimed in it's heydey, but it does ok now, especially for 5 bucks on sale. And even today I still had the oft discussed random multiplayer - a bit buggy at first, but a really artful and serene experience all around. I wouldn't pay more than 5 dollars for this in 2024 though. Not enough content to justify it's regular asking price.

Really good 8 hours of gameplay. The writing isn't *quite* up to par for a portal game, but the gameplay is fine (outside of a view puzzles that are a bit janky) and it's a free mod. Honestly, with a budget and some polish, and a bit more work on the narrative, you could mistake this for a Valve portal. 4/5 stars.

If you enjoy emotionally provoking journeys, this game is a must. I have never felt so moved by a game without dialogue. The platforming is super forgiving for even the casualest of players. Play. This. Game. Also, be sure to look for either instructions to unlock the hidden end game cutscene, or watch on youtube after.

It's been a long time that a text-rpg have captivated me enough to not only read all of the dialogue, but to complete two full playthroughs within my initial play window. I'll be taking a break for now, but I will definitely come back to this. It's a great game for steamdeck too, especially if you want to play something less "active" while traveling for example.

The difficulty curve was already wonky, and now they made Recruit (the easiest level) be way more difficult. They nerfed melee, they buffed special enemies, and it still throws multiple difficult specials at you simultaneously.

This game was pretty fun on release, needed some work. Now they made it objectively worse in almost every way and keep ignoring feedback.

Read HealthBar & Combat Hazard's reviews. It pretty much covers how I feel that I didn't cover here.

EDIT: DEC 2021 - The latest update has fixed a lot of what was wrong. I feel like it still needs improvement, and the "easiest" mode still isn't easy enough for the most casual of players who aren't good at deck building. Perhaps adding a tier below recruit or a tier above everything else and shifting the difficulty up for those and down for recruit - even if it reduced rewards or even eliminated them. Being able to just chill and play without worrying about trying hard like we used to play left4dead2.

Either way, changing back to a recommend since TRS is listening and making changes.

Game suffers from common issues with camera stutter when moving the camera, particularly on high performance gaming pc's with high refresh monitors. This only impacted camera movement (rotate up/down,rotate left/right), not character movement (move forward/backward, strafe left/right). The high frequency stutter for camera movement instantly made me motion sick.

Tried all the recommended fixes from their website/official support, all the third party fixes, etc. None of it resolved the common issue. Ended up refunding.

The bottom line is, if you cannot stomach playing this game at 60hz, locking your monitor to 60hz refresh in windows settings, and force enabling vsync, you won't be able to stomach this game.

It's really not too much to ask for the developer to fix this issue - i would really like to enjoy this game, and if they fix it I will re-buy and change my review. But unless and until they fix the camera stutter, I cannot recommend anyone with a high performance gaming pc play this game.

"Weird" is the only way to describe this game for me. I found the story and portions of the gameplay enjoyable. The story was very interesting and kept me marching on to the next delivery. The tasks and missions were alternatively interesting and boringly tedious. The nature of "expanding" the network made it mostly pointless to ever do a Fragile Jump playing through the main story, and spending literally hours just doing the whole walking simulator thing was... detracting.

The moments that the gameplay shined was then the story had progressed enough that other-player structures could be fully integrated into my gameplay. That, combined with those moments where the camera pulled back and the music played while I was traversing amazing landscapes were the most memorable from a gameplay perspective. The dynamism of those moments, the interactions that happened were awesome. Much of the first half of the game felt like a "sit back and chill while playing all-terrain USPS simulator", while the second half felt like "the everyman is forced into being a hero to save everyones ass" trope. Thats the gameplay.

The endgame seems fun in theory - the idea of doing things and building things to help other players and yourself out has its draw. Where this falls flat is, as I said before, most of those things are barely usable for a player not-yet-there in the endgame. As such, the endgame didn't have much staying power for me.

The story... is VERY weird... but ultimately VERY interesting and compelling. The biggest drawback to the story for me was the gaps in between the story beats were so large for the first 90% of the game - but then the last two hours of the game is almost entirely cutscene driven. The pacing from a game-perspective felt really bad. Had this been a film, it may have been better in that regard.

In ANY case, I completed the main story in about 40 hours, only doing minimal side tasks. If you get this on sale (I got this for under 20 during the winter steam sale) than I would say it's well worth it. If I were to put a number score on it, i'd rate the game 80 out of a hundred. I can't see where people call this the best game of all time, but its definitely a solid experience for 40 hours.

Pretty awesome game. Too bad the ending left it open for an interesting sequel but that never happened.
Controls are a bit janky and show their age, but the visuals hold up amazingly well.
Rich story, impactful moments, really worth it. Bought on sale for 10 bucks, definitely a great value!
