TRUTHFUL NEUTRAL REVIEW -

To preface, I think this game has a lot of valid and invalid hate going for it. I will first explain the different haters then do my own review from a neutral perspective:

1st HATER (Valid):
The people who are complaining about thr optimization and use of UE5 and how its simply degrading gaming performance in general. This is true. The game does not run amazingly, but I have had worse... I will leave it there.

2nd HATER (INVALID):
These are the people that just don't generally like hero shooters. It feels as though if any hero shooter came out and isnt perfect, these people would just hate cuz they can hate. Which I mean fair enough, do what you want. But the media as well as its followers have given this game an truly unfair chance at life. (will talk more about this later)

3rd Hater (THE BEST KIND OF HATER):
These are people that simply want games to improve. They leave good ACTUAL reviews with recommendations for improvement and clearly state pros and cons of a game. They actually tried the game for usually a few hours and have atleast a decent idea of what they are talking about.

MY OWN LITTLE REVIEW:

HighGuard is not a bad game by any means. A little confused and yes very unoptimized but luckily, these things can change. They are not under EA or some ♥♥♥♥ leadership which enables them to do what they want for the success of their own game and fun for the players.

I am someone who enjoys shooters and it is my main genre of games that I play. If you are like me and have played many hero shooters and don't mind them too much, then this can be some good fun. With friends it can also be very fun. The gunplay is fine with some guns being a bit bland and other feeling better. Thecharacter designs are good, not the greatest but good. The abilities feel as though they all have a place but I have yet to find great team synergies except for a character which gives extra shields. She feels like she can be quite strong for that ability alone. The maps are fine, but do feel a bit large.

This brings me to the main actual gameplay critique which I agree with. Since the game works in 3 phases every match and the maps being large, the game feels as though it would player better with 4 or 5 players on each team instead of 3. Because of the large maps and 3 players, there is downtime between fights. If you play games like apex, then you will be used to this but luckily there is less downtime than apex, which is great! The game does not flow terribly but is also not perfect. And I can definatly see a rework for the mining bit of the game that you use to buy better gear. Again the game is a little confused on what it is. There is obviously an FPS core here. Bu then there is open world mining for currency, there are mounts, then there is also an defend/attack phase similar to siege (I guess). So all in all they are trying to fit quite a few components into an fps. Which is cool! Why cool? Because I respect the developers for trying something new and unique in this saturated genre.

Okay enough yapping, Pros and Cons:

PROS:
- Can be fun!
- Okay gunplay
- Unique components in a saturated genre (also a con depending who you are)
- Feels like APEX in many ways but also has its own identity, dunno how to explain it.
- Mechanics and gameplay feel polished when we are used to hella bugs on a release
- Final phase where you attack/defend feels quite decent, its the most fun part of the game.
- ITS FREE!!!!
- 20GB storage required (Something like that)

CONS:
- Unoptimized
- 2 guns feel a bit bland to me
- 3v3 when I feel it could be 4v4 or 5v5 (Someone in a review said 10v10, lowkey would be interesting to see multiple
groups in a team go out and fight)
- Some gameplay elements like the mining could be refind or reworked but it isnt the worst thing we have witnessed in
shooters)

I hope people who want to try this are not taken away from simply seeing hella negative reviews, in the end we are humans and everyone can form their own opinions. There are people that lopved concord I guarentee you, and if you were one of them, then coodos to you. Make you own opinions and stop just following everyon else and media blindly, if you don't like it then you dont like it.

All in all, I hope the devs take all of the actual valid reviews and issues and push the game in a positive direction.
